▶Summary
Children's poor eating habits have been one of the major public health problems for several years, which can lead to many diseases such as obesity. In addition to poor eating habits, reduced physical activity is an extremely important factor in increasing the risk of obesity. In the age of the Internet, game consoles and television in a world full of unhealthy and processed food, fewer and fewer children choose to spend their free time actively. Instead of going for a walk, they choose the next episode of their favorite TV series or passing the next level in a game. The schools implementing the project wanted to change the attitudes of both students and their parents. Together, they wanted to show students that “slow food” (local and traditional dishes; the way food is produced; promoting a culture of eating healthy food; buying locally sourced food made with traditional recipes) is trendy and can be a great alternative to the human-destroying “junk food” culture. Complementing the idea of “slow food” is a healthy, active lifestyle, which can provide students with an excellent way to spend free time outdoors together with their peers.
