Love Music, Love Yourself!
▶Summary
While diversifications in life conditions become a chance for some,they become a predicament for others.Situation generally results as academical,sociological and psychological loss of students.According to statics one out of ten young people in the EU do not continue studying.We saw that this problem was not regional but it was a universal one.However our partnership also consists of those who have found solutions to these problems and have the knowledge of necessary techniques that should be applied.The partners had competences and this provided our project a multidirectional implementation.We carried out study with the help of this project.Using the effect of music,we reduced negative attitudes towards education.Also music can positively impact students at-risk in the realms of communication,behavior management and academics;self-esteem and reduced anxiety are noted as benefits.This was way to relieve stress,which was significant for students overwhelmed with school-work.The partners created school bands and chorus that allow students to work together.Music is important as it integrates subjects. It developed children's musical skills and gave them the opportunity to work on their math,reading,writing skills.
▶Objectives
We wanted to: To study on this problem in a universal dimension. To achieve skills as working in teams , communication, self-esteem,creative thinking, calmer attitudes, imagination, discipline, study skills and invention can be learnt and improved through the study of music. To create IOs: A guideline with a register ISBN, "The basics of Music Therapy for students with special needs", and a Curriculum program "Music Therapy for supporting the student with special needs". To increase the students self-esteem in positive and improve their academic and social skills by concentrating on the healing effect of music in education. To involve students at risk in the system of education To train the teachers by means of the seminars and workshops about the effect of music and musical activities on the education of students-at-risk. To use music and musical activities as an alternative teaching method for purpose of endearing school to students at risk.
▶Activities
We carried out 3 TPMs (Poland, Spain, North Macedonia). We had 2 LTTAs(Turkey,Romania) We carried out these local activities: 1.December 2021-January 2022: The Music Corridors were created in all partner schools and the NGO helped to create the Music Corridor at a local high school- this activity involved the entire project implementation team, students at risk and their colleagues. Exhibitions about musicians with disabilities, instruments, music history, the effects of music on the human brain, representative musicians from partner countries were made. The exhibitions were viewed by students, teachers and parents. The photos of this corridor at all partner schools were published on our school's website, project website and on our eTwinning project space. 2.January –February 2022: in all partner schools films "Whiplash", "August Rush", "Immortal beloved","The Chorus" were watched and analyzed by the students. Debates and surveys on the role of music in personal development, increasing self-esteem, improving school results were made. 3.March 2022: the students-at-risk and other volunteer students wrote letters to their favourite musicians and they inserted the lyrics of these musicians to their letters.Then these letters were ei
▶Impact
The project has been implemented in accordance with the objectives to achieve the intended goals:Each institution has set up a selection committee, an evaluation team, a monitoring team and a dissemination team. Students at risk were identified - by face-to-face interviews with students, subject teachers, guidance teachers and their parents. Participants carried out the following project activities: creating a Music Corridor, watching the film ”Whiplash and other music-related films, writing letters to a musician, visiting the musician’s house, classical music in Break Times creating music pictionaries and recycled instrumets in all schools.Photos, video footage and information about the activities were published on institutions’, project website and eTwinning Project as well as brochures. We aimed to reveal hidden talents-Students selected for the project created and manage The Music Corridor where their art works and photos are displayed. Students joined music groups and give concerts- school bands/choirs were created. We used musical activities as alternative teaching method for purpose of endearing school to students at risk: classes were conducted with the use of attractive teaching aids and relaxation techniques were used.
