▶Objectives
DOMINOES analysed and addressed the digital transformation the ecosystem of news media is undergoing to identify the digital capabilities the higher education sector needs developed and to contribute to digital innovation in higher education and vocational training. The project's overall objective was to reduce societal polarization by combating online disinformation in two target groups: academics and researchers employed by the partner universities/civil society trainers and MA and BA students in the three partner universities. The project’s concrete objectives were 1) to assist the educational and research staff of partner institutions to acquire digital teaching skills, innovate educational materials and adapt to the ongoing digital transformation; (2) assist educational and research staff and students to achieve advanced digital skills useful in detecting and countering disinformation and information manipulation leading to social polarisation, extremism and discrimination in society and (3) create across Romania, Malta and Spain a network of experts in the detection and prevention of disinformation that can further advance expertise and foster transfer of know-how at the level of the public.
