SET UP YOUR FUTURE
▶Summary
We needed this project because of two main reasons. One of them was the unemployment rate and the other one was the evolution of the working World. The first requirement of this project: a new report finds the world’s unemployment rate has dropped to five percent, the lowest level since the global economic crisis in 2008. The International Labor Organization reports the jobs being created, however, are poor quality jobs that keep most of the world’s workers mired in poverty. The second requirement of this project: Technology is moving at an increasingly fast pace, with every facet of our lives now linked intrinsically to microchips in one way or another. While this might all be in the name of progress, it is also having a negative effect on many traditional careers, which are becoming more and more automated. As a result, it is important to avoid choosing an industry that is made up of disappearing jobs. There are already warning signs. A recent study by the Foundation for Young Australians (FYA) found that nearly 60 percent of young people in the country are currently training for careers that will be two-thirds automated in the next 10 to 15 years. That is a huge waste of skills.
▶Objectives
Our objectives were: • To give our students the opportunity to learn about how to do business in an international atmosphere, to increase the awareness of our students on an international level as well as to educate them on the basic knowledge of management, setting up a firm, work successfully at the international markets. • To engage our students in a creative and innovative manner to learn about the practical implications and possibilities of being involved in all aspects of the business –marketing- selling products. To give them the opportunity to be creative and innovative using their own ideas. • To help students learn the various degrees to which a business must go through in order to produce a product, or how to create a CV and to apply for a job on an international level. • To grow the confidence and presentation skills of our students. • To offer the opportunity to create bonds between students from different countries through mobilities. • To gain confidence in speaking and learning English as well as learning to work in a multilingual environment. • To develop ICT skills of our students using modern/new digital marketing techniques
▶Activities
Our project realized the following activities in the preparation phase; - communicating the idea of the project to students and teachers of the schools, - Identifying the need to make this project, - Selecting the partners and assuring them about the human resources available for the project, - Establishing plans for the project’s implementation, monitoring, assessment, and dissemination. -Sharing the ideas about entrepreneurship and future careers determined by the project scope and making an announcement of preparation about these topics. Coordinate with the organizations involved. We set up project teams such as the project coordinator monitoring team. A selection of the teams' project was made in each institution, as a next step, and each member received precise tasks such as: contracting, keeping the budget control, monitoring the local activities carried out in the project, making internal assessments, organizing the activities suggested in the project proposal such as international exhibitions, exchange of groups of pupils, transnational meetings, video conferences, presentations of the mobilities that students and teachers attended, The project team will also work out the student selection methodology.
▶Impact
We wanted our students to be totally aware that they could set up their future by developing their skills, critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration across networks, agility and adaptability, initiative and entrepreneurialism, effective oral and written communication, accessing and analyzing information, curiosity, and imagination. Thanks to this project like author Martin Ford said students could pursue a career in one of the 3 following groups: Creative Jobs, Relationship-Based Jobs, and Unpredictable Jobs. We have created CV tube in order to help participants when they apply a job. We have created project website and social media account in order to broadcast our works so that we can help anyone who needs help when they are looking for a job. All partner school have project corner at their school so that they can show our works on that corner. All students and parents can see our works and get some idea about them. We have created E-diary about our LTT activities.
