▶Objectives
We wanted to offer a new, jointly developed and jointly run digital bootcamp program for bio-tech start-ups. The program did allow start-ups from mainly Germany and Sweden but also from other European countries to learn how to create a business. Furthermore, the program offered access to SmiLe's and BioM's networks. Staff from both organizations developed and broaden their knowledge, skills and competences related to the content of the business support provided, the “what”. In addition, we have developed and broaden our and the participating teams digital knowledge and skills in using digital tools, the “how”, for education, networking, collaboration and process development.
▶Impact
The Erasmus+ funding enabled the two organizers to combine their best practice knowledge on modern training technologies and to develop a state-of-the art program for biotech start-ups. Each team developed a business model and optimized theirs pitch deck at the end of the bootcamp, which they now can use for their future meetings with investors, collaboration partners and public funding competition applications. The bootcamp increased the networks of the teams substantially. Another output of the project was the so-called Demo-Days at the end of the program, where the teams pitched theirs business cases to an invited audience. Within the project, we attracted two pharmaceutical partners, who supported the program by sharing theirs knowledge and the current practices. In total we received 58 application from entrepreneurs interested in the program from within Europe and outside the European border. We accepted 20 applicants and 18 start-ups completed the program successfully.
