Green Teachers for Green Kids
▶Summary
We focused on some facts:All the countries are discussing the issues of environmental pollution/climate change today.Most of them try to find some solutions to overcome this global problem. There is a need to take global action to struggle with the problem.Education at an early age is important to solve sustainable solution.The three inevitable elements of education are teachers,students and parents.Environment is on the top of it and it is polluted considerably.We feel the need to raise environmental awareness to break the top chain link.The issue is too global to be addressed only in our own countries and requires cooperation.The fact that it is one of the top issues among European priorities has become a source of finance for institutions like us that have taken responsibility for environmental issues and brought us together for a transnational cooperation.It is of great importance to raise individuals who save the environment consciously,prevent environmental pollution,realize how serious the problem is. The way to make this possible is to raise/educate individuals/teachers and get the support of the parents.Thanks to our project, individuals with these skills were the outputs of our project.
▶Objectives
We wanted to achieve many objectives,considering the main objective of our project to have a sustainable environment.The main issues were to find solutions/raise awareness for environmental pollution to a dangerous level,climate change,global warming and drought,unconscious use of raw materials and the importance of recycling. Our project ensured teachers/students/parents understand the importance of environmental pollution to a dangerous level,climate change,global warming/drought,unconscious use of raw materials,the importance of recycling,and maintain the idea of taking care of natural resources,get acquainted teachers/students with recycling technologies,establish environmental awareness. Searching for solutions to problems together paved the way for people from different cultures to coalesce/become citizens of the world.Teachers' ability to experience transnational educational activities enabled them to develop new pedagogical methods/increase their motivation in this regard.The project contributed to the experience/reinforce future developments related to environmental education/creativity.It developed an understanding of different approaches.
▶Activities
We implemented various activities during and after the project’s completion in addition to the LTT activities in the mobilities and to the support of the transnational project meetings for a successful project implementation.The budget was also crucial to achieve our project’s success.Therefore we can summarized that the project activities that will lead to the achievement of the project objectives/delivery of the planned activities/results are basically the Project management,properly-distributed tasks and responsibilities among partners,appropriate budget management,transnational collaboration/meetings, LTTs,skill-gaining,supporting teachers/family participation/contribution/support, and some other activities some of which are to create an Erasmus corner at school/institution,informe our community by organizing displays,meetings,competitions,Clean Environment Dictionary,write a journal with impressions about mobilities,environmental education for families,recycling:competitions and prepare ed products,celebration:International Day of Recycling,a trip to the recycling facility/center with students and parents,competition for making costumes from waste materials,Erasmus Day,a fashion show,e magazine,World Wetlands Day celebrations,the practice/hobby gardens,World Water Day celebrations,planting activities,World Environment Day celebrations,beach/riverside/lakeside cleaning activity,a calendar on "For a more livable environment",kite festival and clean air and clean water activities etc.We held 3 transnational project meetings and 5 LTTs. The role of the NGO partner was important in the project.They provided specialized education/workshops/support to the school partners.The schools cooperated with each other and the NGO. We created project teams with well-defined roles.We established dissemination platforms.We gave importance to the evaluation/monitoring the project. We established a partnership with the organizations with the same issues/institutional needs,and with the awareness that the solution requires a transnational cooperation.We planned together what we could do to solve the problem thanks to this project.The transnational meetings/online meetings,the LTTs gave us the skills to show how to work more effectively/overcome the problems in cooperation. Brainstorming,discussions,respect to ideas,making common decisions,empathy/being understanding will be our key elements.We set standards/support a common culture/cooperation.We’ll share common experiences.We’ll carry what we experienced to our country. Regarding the activities,we planned a content that raised awareness/sensitivity by developing correct attitudes/behavior,ICT/foreign language skills,green skills,transversal/basic skills of the participants/target group in a way that consider the sensitivity to the environment in accordance with the soul of our project. We ensured how to protect/not to pollute environment through practical activities,games,outdoor activities,trips,art,important national day/week celebrations,competitions,visuals,technology and fun. We created videos,corners,posters,logos,short movies,pictures,e-magazines,calendar etc. also using web 2 tools in school and LTTs,and use them ourselves.In this way,ICT skills of participants improved remarkably. In addition,the project activities supported the development of better school leadership/innovative teaching/assessment methods.We used innovative learning approaches,develop creativity,support teachers in delivering competence-based teaching and develop assessment/validation of key competences. We attach great importance to and also focus on family participation/support to students.One of the biggest strength in the project was to benefit from the help/support of parents.Family support/participation was an effective force in gaining the desired behavior/skills.
▶Impact
Considering all the activities, results and other outcomes of our project that we had during and the completion of it,we took actions and offer some tangible solutions/raise awareness for environmental pollution,climate change,global warming and drought, unconscious use of raw materials and the importance of recycling.For this purpose, we developed training materials by using web 2 tools. We used e-Twinning, social media, YouTube and create videos, bulletin boards, posters, logos, pictures and books to teach and learn about the environment etc. We created our own products of activities such as educational materials related to environment, trips, designing logos, competitions, a calendar, e-magazines, recorded videos, short movie, diaries, celebrations of important days and weeks in partner countries, the results of the questionnaires and creative products etc. The activities involved real life tasks. The results were viewed by colleagues from partner schools/organizations and wider community. The staff/teachers had greater understanding and responsiveness to social/linguistic/cultural diversity. They practiced foreign languages in real context. Their ICT competences are developed. Teachers knew different educational systems, compared them to their own. New experiences were incorporated in school/organization curriculum. This increased their motivation for professional development. They developed/reinforced their networks of partners, supported the development, transfered and implementation of innovative practices as well as the implementation of joint initiatives promoting cooperation and exchanges of experience at European level. Teachers/students had more positive attitude towards the European projects/EU values. They had a chance to work in a transnational project/developed their cooperation skills, got more aware of the importance of the environment at international level, contributed to the protection of environment thanks to this green project-an environmental project most of the products of which are digital. Our project produced outputs innovative for schools/organisations. It produced new learning opportunities/teaching materials to develop basic skills. Students learned by doing/developed the right attitude/skills towards environmental issues, improved learning skills, life skills, multiple intelligences, sense of initiative and entrepreneurship, environmental awareness, learned group-work and participate in learning process actively. Organizations/Schools benefited from the cooperation with their partners/gained an increased capacity in project management/improved organizational, management, planning and partnership skills. In the long term, the new pedagogical practices will modify our ways of teaching/improve the school results of our students. The participation in the project will improve the image of the schools on local level.The school will be perceived as an institution that can efficiently create network with partners in Europe. Neighboring schools will also be influenced because the school will disseminate the information about Erasmus+, good practices, experiences, and innovative teaching methods. Our project offers a method that our stakeholders can use as well. We hope the influence of our project on society will be supported by any associated organizations which aim to struggle with environmental/waterrelated problems and climate change and which help them adapt to the society. The results will be published any interested local and international media. In conclusion, participants/students will acquire lifelong skills of establishing an inclusive society, environmental awareness and teaching and learning skills having cultural respect and European added value.
