▶Objectives
By implementing the BAS (Business Attraction Strategies) project, the project partners aimed to enhance the business attractiveness of European cities by equipping local authorities with the necessary skills and digital tools to attract and retain investments. The project addressed the evolving needs of municipalities in a competitive global environment, where digitalization and innovation are crucial for economic growth. The BAS project empowered local authorities to position their cities as competitive business hubs. Key objectives achieved: - Enhancing Digital Competencies for Business Attraction - Fostering Knowledge Exchange on Business Attraction Strategies - Developing a training needs analysis, a toolbox on business attraction management and an E-learning platform with 2 modules on digital business attraction skills as training sources available for any interested user.
▶Activities
Main activities: - TPMs :Three in-person transnational project meetings took place in Pforzheim (DE), Dubrovnik (HR), and Parma (IT). These TPMs provided a platform for partners to discuss the progress of the project results and facilitated the exchange of ideas. In addition to the in-person meetings, three online TPMs were organized. - Seminar “Improving Business capacities skills in Municipalities” Hosted by Orust: during this seminar, project partners presented the content of the toolbox, which included strategies, tools, and best practices for attracting and managing businesses. The seminar included group work sessions where partners could brainstorm and collaborate on the practical application of the toolbox. It was also an opportunity to visit local companies in Orust, giving participants firsthand exposure to business practices and challenges in the region. - Dissemination activities and final Events:To share the results of the project with a broader audience, several dissemination activities were planned and five dissemination events were organized in 5 countries.
▶Impact
The project aimed to equip municipal managers and civil servants with digital competencies for business attraction, focusing on enhancing skills and strategies for attracting and retaining new businesses. Concrete outputs developed are: - Training Needs Mapping and Analysis: This will provide a comprehensive assessment of the training needs of municipal staff across different countries, creating a foundation for tailored tools and resources. - Toolbox on Business Attraction Management: This practical toolkit will guide municipalities on organizing and managing business attraction, including strategies to involve various stakeholders in investment support and business growth. - E-course on Digital Business Attraction Skills: An online training course aimed at municipal staff, building on key elements from the toolbox, to strengthen digital business attraction strategies. Additional tangible results include: - A Project Website for public access to information, project updates, and the e-course. - A Quality Management Plan to monitor and improve the quality of the project. - A Sharing and Promoting Plan outlining dissemination strategies and target groups. - A risk management plan
