B-ECO - Start-up Eco Entrepreneurs project
▶Summary
We applied for the B-ECO project to address the critical need for modern and innovative training methods in the eco-entrepreneurial sector. The project was designed to identify core and innovative...
▶Objectives
We aimed to leverage the expertise of specialists in the field to share best practices, case studies, lessons learned, and future opportunities. Throughout the project, we provided training and practical managerial education to training providers from partner countries, with a focus on eco-entrepreneurship, innovation, and eco-business management. This was accomplished through an innovative training program and a cutting-edge e-learning platform, designed to create a unique space for shared knowledge and experiences among course users. Our innovative training course was designed to be delivered in two ways: by trainers and as an independent online course. This dual approach allowed us to reach the maximum number of users. Our strategic partnership concentrated on promoting access to and learning through Open Educational Resources (OER), while supporting ICT in the VET field to enhance and expand the availability of high-quality learning opportunities. These opportunities were tailored to individual trainers by incorporating innovative delivery methods. Ultimately, we aimed not only to equip participants with essential competencies, skills, and tools but also to empower them to become innovative and stand out in the market.
▶Activities
The B-ECO project was meticulously managed and executed through a comprehensive plan that encompassed key activities in project management, quality assurance, dissemination, and more. Each partner had clearly defined roles and responsibilities, all of which contributed to the project's success. The project successfully developed the following key outcomes: The Eco-Entrepreneurs Training Course – This training program enhances the awareness, experience, and skills required for low-skilled young people to become entrepreneurs. The program's competencies and skills are supported by a newly developed learning methodology called B-ECO Branches, which emphasizes sustainable development in entrepreneurship. This methodology integrates coaching, mentoring, and action learning techniques to facilitate group discussions, address individual issues, encourage reflection, set goals, and develop personal action plans, all while maintaining a focus on sustainability and green practices. Didactic Materials for VET Teachers – These materials are designed to support VET trainers and educators in utilizing the e-learning platform and the B-ECO Branches during entrepreneurship sessions. Available in electronic form, these materials can be downloaded from the project website or directly from the e-learning platform, promoting the use of digital tools for greener practices. The materials include module descriptions, learning resources for trainers, and a comprehensive guide for setting up and running B-ECO Branches with learners. Case Studies Collection “Greatest Hits” – This publication features a collection of at least 30 successful eco-entrepreneurial businesses, serving as inspiration and motivation for entrepreneurial education. The case studies were carefully selected from across Europe, not just from the partner countries, to provide a broad and diverse range of examples. Social Eco E-Learning Platform – This platform offers online learning modules with course authoring tools, facilitating the development of highly interactive and innovative courses. It also includes social modules with a forum to strengthen transnational collaboration between eco-entrepreneurs and start-ups. The Social Eco E-Learning Platform is an innovative, freely accessible online resource that provides comprehensive learning opportunities for the target audience and enables connections between companies and entrepreneurs. The project also included Transnational Project Meetings, held in Slovenia, Italy, and Portugal, as well as several online meetings where partners collaborated and planned the project's progress. Additionally, a 3-day workshop in Athens, Greece, under the Learning-Teaching-Training Activities (LTTA), was organized to prepare partners for the effective use and coordination of the project's outcomes, ensuring their successful implementation. For the dissemination of project results, Multiplier Events (ME) were organized. These mini-events, held across partner countries, engaged stakeholders such as chambers of commerce and entrepreneurship associations and offered hands-on workshops to experience the B-ECO Branches methodology. The collaborative efforts of all partners ensured that the B-ECO project was executed efficiently, met its objectives, and delivered valuable resources for eco-entrepreneurship education.
▶Impact
The four main outcomes of the B-ECO project included: (R1) the textbook The Eco-Entrepreneurs Training Course; (R2) the manual for teachers and trainers, Didactic Materials for VET Teachers, which provides guidance on using the B-ECO training course and platform; (R3) the Case Studies Collection “Greatest Hits”, featuring studies and analyses of successful green companies from the project’s partner countries; and (R4) the Social Eco E-Learning Platform, which integrates and encompasses all the previously mentioned results. In terms of project management, a comprehensive Project Roadmap was developed. This roadmap includes the Project Management Handbook, partnership agreements, a detailed work plan (covering project meetings, activities, and tasks), a clear description of each partner’s roles and responsibilities, and a list of project indicators and expected impacts. To effectively disseminate the project results, a Dissemination & Communication Strategic Plan was created. This plan outlines various dissemination activities, including: (i) a project dissemination strategy that identifies the best approaches to promote the project; (ii) project dissemination materials inspired by the technical proposal and interim project results; and (iii) the identification of communication channels and the establishment of a targeted mailing list for stakeholders and interested parties. To ensure the quality of project implementation and the results achieved, a Quality Management Plan was developed as part of the Quality Assurance work package. This plan outlines the quality-check procedures to be followed, guaranteeing high standards in project outcomes and consistency in the work carried out throughout the project.
