The project aimed to fill the gap in understanding climate change and migration among young people. Research has shown that young people perceive climate change and migration as two seemingly separate challenges, even though they are aware of their interconnectedness in relation to the future. In particular, the project aimed to address the needs of the youth sector, where youth workers, as well as other educators, often do not feel qualified to address these pressing issues, especially in their complex and interconnected nature. This also weakens their support to young people who are already involved or want to strengthen their involvement in various initiatives. As the topic of climate migration is still overlooked in society, the project aimed to produce useful material in order to empower key stakeholders for a more sustainable and solidarity-based society.

The main objective of the project was to inform and strengthen the competences of youth workers and other educators in the field of climate migration, and to promote critical thinking and mobilisation for a climate and socially just society. Another important objective was to raise awareness on climate migration among the general public, as it remains an overlooked issue in the partner countries. Last but not least, the aim was to increase the capacity of partner organisations and other NGOs in the partner countries on these topics.

We held 3 face-to-face and 11 online partner meetings. PR1: 5 lectures were held, in which the partner organisations presented the area in which they have the most expertise. As a result, organisaiton changed their internal policies and five infolists were produced in all languages. PR2: 4 focus groups were conducted in each partner country with youth workers, other educators, focusing on the needs of youth workers and other educators. Sudwind prepared guidelines for conducting the focus groups, as well as 2 online trainings for the partner organisations. PR3: A desk research on the tools and theories available in each country on climate migration, climate change, global learning, youth activism was done. An online course with 3 modules was developed, module 3 was developed by young people. 2 cycles of online training were carried out. PR4: Participants in the course (PR3) wrote stories on climate migration based on interviews. We collected 17 stories, which were published in the booklet Where Once Was Home. As a final part of the blended training (PR3), we also organised a live training (LTTA) in Slovenia. 5 methods on climate change were designed. We organised 4 multiplier events.

Project website in 4 languages. PR1: 5 infolists prepared and 5 internal policies changed. PR2: Qualitative research, focusing on the needs of youth workers and other educators in addressing climate change and migration. The research consisted of a qualitative analysis based on focus groups conducted in each partner country . PR3: An online course on climate migration has been developed, based on PR2 and a set of relevant tools and materials. As part of this deliverable, we also carried out 2 training cycles for youth workers in all partner countries. PR4: stories on climate migration were written and published in a book Where Once Was Home, in all 4 languages. The final part of the training (PR3) was a live training in Slovenia (LTTA activity), where we developed an action plan to promote youth activation, 5 methods on climate migration that youth workers and other trainers can use in their work. 4 multiplier events were held . 3 face-to-face partner meetings, 11 online meetings. A dissemination plan was developed and implemented.
