Objectives

For the above reasons, we wanted to contribute to giving applied storytelling and narrative approaches (and inquiry) to education, and in particular to STEM education. We wanted teaching, knowledge apprehension, problem solving and cooperating in doing so to be more ‘entertaining, while at the same time we also wanted to boost the quality of teaching, self-study and cooperative learning. while at the same time we also wanted to boost the quality of teaching, self-study and cooperative learning. And ultimately better and more convincing project and work pieces where the joy of making them shines through.

Impact

We conducted a national survey on the status quo of education in Spain, Turkey and the Netherlands and the existence of STEM education, which is still in its infancy. We designed questionnaires for teachers, parents, and students for a study on knowledge (and needs) about education in general and STEM in particular. We interviewed these audiences and handed over our national collections and reports to Istanbul Aydın University as all partners. Aydın University prepared one of the activities, Needs Analysis/National Gap Analysis. In cooperation with Storybag and Aydın University, we prepared a STEM+A Storytelling guidebook. We also created and designed a working template on how to apply a hands-on storytelling approach in education. (Guidebook implementation part) assessment of needs, creating a project, capturing information, collaboration, problem solving and finding a solution and reporting on the process - (individual workpiece). Following this, the Turkish and Spanish partners implemented it in their own schools in their own way. Application results were measured and reported by pre- and post-tests. The results were shared with all partners. (The all reports has been uploaded to the appendices)
