The rapid aging of European society has exacerbated the complexities associated with dementia, significantly amplifying its social impact and the financial burden it imposes on healthcare systems....

Objectives

The DementiaCare project successfully met its objectives, leading to significant advancements in dementia care education and practice across Europe. We successfully developed and implemented a comprehensive curriculum for educators in the health and social care sectors. This curriculum effectively deepened their understanding of dementia, while also equipping them with the necessary skills to deliver high-quality care. The curriculum’s effectiveness was thoroughly evaluated through structured learning experiences, including summer and winter schools, and these evaluations confirmed that the educational goals were not only met but also provided tangible benefits in real-world applications. We also successfully disseminated knowledge on integrating "Art Therapy" into the curriculum, demonstrating how this innovative approach could be effectively used in dementia care to improve the quality of life for those affected by the condition. Furthermore, the project facilitated the successful exchange of expertise and experiences across Europe with meetings, training courses, and collaborative activities, we established a strong network of professionals dedicated to improving dementia care.
