Objectives

The aim of the project was to design a contemporary and target group-orientated vocational training programme in order to improve the professional situation of cultural workers. To this end, we first wanted to systematically investigate our assumptions concerning the shortcomings of the existing situation. We also wanted to exchange ideas with international partners and see whether they share these assumptions and come to the same findings when investigating systematically. Finally, we wanted to create a concept and curriculum for a further education programme as a basis for counteracting the perceived deficits.

Activities

In order to achieve our goals, we first analysed the status quo of vocational education and training in the partner countries and identified examples of best practice. We then conducted interviews with experts in vocational education and training for cultural workers as well as interviews with cultural workers themselves. These results were summarised in an interim report. Based on the interim report, we developed a curriculum for a training programme that takes into account the needs of experts and cultural workers. We disseminated the findings via our media to our main target group (cultural workers) as well as the interested public and communicated the results back to our interview partners. Also, we collected the learnings of our cooperation in a separate document.

Impact

We have gained the following results: A collection of vocational training providers in Austria, Spain and Germany with the most important key data on the training and further education programmes and collected best practice examples from this area. A research paper that summarises and further discusses the findings from the interviews with experts and cultural workers regarding further education programmes. The interviews themselves are also included in this paper. The paper is available in English and German. A curriculum with all the important information on content, learning objectives, target groups, admission requirements, programme structure, methodology, certification and costs. A report with collected learnings from our international cooperation project.
