Objectives

The TAKE OFF project aimed to promote Environmentally Friendly Farming (EFF), in line with major EU policies and initiatives, e.g., EU climate targets, Biodiversity Strategy. In addition to these key policies for sustainable development, the TAKE OFF project was tailored to the ERASMUS+ Horizontal Priorities for the environment and fight against climate change and stimulating innovative learning and teaching practices. The concrete objectives of the project were: - Produce an e-learning course for Environmental Friendly Farming (EFF). - Built an online tool for promoting EFF practices. - Produce a replicability e-package for education & training activities related to EFF. - Interact with the target groups and increase outputs uptake by implementing 2 multiplier events, in Cyprus and Italy.

Activities

The project was structured into 5 activities. Activity 1 [e-learning course]: The e-learning course was developed considering the farmers’ IT literacy. It contains four modules (Biodiversity Strategy; Climate Change Mitigation/Adaptation; EcoSchemes/Farm to Fork; Financial opportunities and EFF). The material of each module seeks to present the key EU policies for the environment and climate change. Activity 2 [Interactive online tool]: The tool aims to train farmers in making informed decisions among available management practices for EFF. The environmental footprint (e.g., CO2) for each of the management practices is assessed. Activity 3 [Replicability e-package]: The e-package is concentrated, in the form of a user guide providing and proposing appropriate curricula for various cases of VET, accompanied by additional resources and material required for EFF and an additional ZOTERO database with external links for useful online materials (e.g. videos, articles, scientific publications). Activity 4 & 5 [Multiplier events]: The project outputs were presented in two multiplier events conducted in Cyprus and Italy, respectively. Piloting and feedback collection was implemented.

Impact

Activity 1: Four modules on different aspects of EFF. Each module contains: (a) the objectives of the module and a study guide. (b) three lessons in the form of short ppt presentations. (c) two educational activities per module. (d) evaluation quiz in Google form. Activity 2: (a) allows professionals to investigate various EFF practices and estimate their impact on the environment. Uses Life Cycle Assessment for the calculation of environmental indicators. (b) A user manual (step-by-step) is provided along with a case study to assist users. Activity 3: (a) A user guide providing and proposing appropriate curricula for various cases of VET and a range of training activities, targeting various audiences. (b) A database with additional materials in the form of presentations. (c) A ZOTERO database with external links for useful online materials. (d) Two multiplier events in Cyprus and Italy, respectively. Additional activities: (a) Project website, available in three languages (GR, EN, IT). (b) Two piloting events in Cyprus and Italy, respectively. (c) A report on the feedback collected from stakeholders in Italy and Cyprus. (d) The final materials were promoted to be used by Higher and Secondary Education.
