The project aims to promote an understanding of the European Union, especially in terms of common values, unity and diversity, as well as social, cultural and historical heritage. It emphasises that all Europeans share a common history and aims to explore and preserve this cultural heritage and knowledge. The initiative promotes communication and creates meeting spaces for employees of the participating museums to share expertise, experiences and resources such as archives and contemporary witnesses. The exchange focusses on the topic of migration, collecting shared knowledge and establishing historical and contemporary connections. This contributes to the creation of a European identity among both staff and the public. At the same time, the project supports the partners in digitising their educational content. The participating institutions have different resources, so the project aims to support museums on their path to digital transformation. This includes identifying digitalisation opportunities, building capacity for the use of digital technologies and promoting basic and advanced digital skills.

The project produced ten exhibitions in six European countries on migratory movements from the perspective of Protestant cultural history. Another (travelling) exhibition was jointly developed and shown for the first time at the German Protestant Church Congress 2023 in Nuremberg. This exhibition, which can be ordered via the project management or via the exhibition portal of the Evangelical Press Association for Bavaria (epv), will be on display at many other locations until the end of 2024. The exhibition texts have been translated into all languages of the project partners involved and can be accessed via QR code on the first exhibition panel. As part of the joint research work, a 300-page accompanying volume was produced with contributions from the project partners. It serves as a joint exhibition catalogue. A 20-minute film provides an overview of the project and its results. Flyers, posters and a project website were produced as part of PR work. One particularly valuable outcome of the project is the consolidation and expansion of the "Museums in the Protestant Region" network, which is to be closely linked to bildung evangelisch in europa e.V. and expanded to include further members in other EU countries.
