Summary

In a world full of filters, harsh editing and constant media noise, we want to provide something new and different through podcasts, something that will go straight to the heart and something real. The idea of “Hello World” was to build a solid team of young podcast creators from seven different countries; Norway, Sweden, Italy, Turkey, Finland, Denmark and Lithuania. When many other podcasts are aimed at a young audience but produced by adults, and with adults making up all the themes and asking all the questions we do the opposite. We are making a series of podcasts in English about topics chosen and created by young people, for and about people of all ages. That is why it is called "Hello World". Legacy - to create a body of work that will be able to be used and accessed across different digital platforms, creating local and international youth forums and provide a proactive platform, a voice for young people to express topics that are important and relevant to them.

Objectives

1.Promoting active citizenship and amplifying young peoples’ voices. 2. Strengthen young participant’s emotional and digital literacy, digital literacy including audio and some elements of animation and video, but with a strong focus on audio. 3. Discussing media ethics and disinformation 4. Collaborate internationally 5. Producing ten episodes of a high quality podcast of themes that are important to the young participants, based on Open Space Philosophy 6. Improve English communication skills 7. Creating a young and international team that will work together through digital platforms online.

Activities

Hello World Online Launch - 05.09.2022 On Monday September 5th, the participants from the different countries met online for the first time. They had the chance to have a brief glimpse of one another and had the chance to meet Gill Dowsett, Forum Theatre practioner from Wales, UK, who, together with project-leader Pernilla Nylén Gallagher from Arttrain' communication-team, did hold all meetings online throughout the year. The online launch was festive and marked the beginning of a new adventure. Training in Finland 15-22.10.2022 This brought groups of 2 young people and one group-leader together in Finland for being introduced to Forum Theatre, interview-technique, sound-editing and video-animation. Work with Open Space did point out many topics for the podcasts to come and first interviews were made. Online work from 1.11.2022 This was much more difficult than expected, and we soon realised that we needed to bring the young people together again, and so Arttrain convinced Guldborgsund Ungdomsskole (GUS) from where the young participants and the group-leader had been recruited, that they should apply for a youth-exchange, which unfortunately wasn't approved in first row, but luckily it was during 2023.

Impact

As the costs for implementing the training in Finland were higher than budgetted for, we had to cut down in the planned number of podcast-productions, so 8 podcast wre made on about topics chosen by the young participants during the training in Finland in October 2022: 1) "The Power of Listening" - about the background for the project 2) "My Superpower ADHD" about mental health 3) "The Power of Expression" 4) "SISU - The Power from Within" 5) "The Power of Fear" 6) "The Power of Dialoque" 7) “The Power to Change” 8) "The Power of Power" They may be found on diverse platforms as for example Spotify https://open.spotify.com/show/3GVmzf8XL9FnNT2GB3Jp94 and at Arttrain's webpage https://www.arttrain.dk/art-train-podcast.html. Another results wa for example the involvement of Guldborgsund Ungdomsskole (GUS), which hasn't been active in international youth-work since the change of management around 10 years ago, but participated with group-leader and young people and finally also got approved the youth-exchange "The Ripple Effect", which was implemented 10-17.2.24 also as a finalising of Hello World and a celebration of the accrediation GUS then just had received. Monday 11th Feb 2024: Final Circle for Hello World both online & live
