▶Objectives
The main objectives of the project (directly aligned to the three selected Erasmus+ priorities – “Environment and fight against climate change”; “Addressing digital transformation through development of digital readiness, resilience and capacity” and “Adapting vocational education and training to labour market needs”) are outlined below: O1 Upskill tourism professionals and students on green and digital skills towards sustainable and resilient tourism operation O2 Help tourism professionals understand the environmental impact of their choices O3 Support businesses & authorities in the development/promotion of sustainable destinations. O4 Increase the interest and motivation of local tourism stakeholders on sustainability related issues O5 Raise awareness of the advantages of sustainable tourism for businesses, the community and the environment. O6 Raise awareness among the general public on the negative impacts of climate change thus contributing to behavioural change and more responsible consumer choices O7 Offer concrete examples/practices on sustainability related measures in hotels O8 Increase the uptake of existing relevant digital tools that promote sustainability
▶Activities
All foreseen activities have been successfully implemented. Namely: 1. 1st Transnational Partner Meeting in Messina, Italy 2 representatives of GV traveled to Messina in Sept 2022 2. Development of SUSTOUR-MED website The website has been developed and running in English, Greek and Italian; all relevant materials have been uploaded 3. Good Practices A collection of 24 good practices on sustainability related tools for tourism businesses has been completed. 4. Guide The Guide has been developed (47 pages) in EN, GR and IT. It serves as easy-to-follow guidelines for sustainable tourism together with practical examples targeted at tourism professionals and small hotels 5. 2nd Transnational Partner Meeting in Athens, Greece 2 representatives of EIP traveled to Greece in June 2023 6. SUSTOUR-MED Workshops GV and EIP delivered the workshops in June-July 2023. Two sets of workshops were organized in each country. In total 35 tourism professionals, stakeholders and/or students participated. 7. Project Management, Dissemination and Q/A All horizontal activities (compilation of reports, meetings, shared drives) were realized. For Dissemination, social media campaign was realized in FB and LinkedIn and promotional materials developed
▶Impact
A) 2 Transnational meetings: Partners exchanged practices and got to know the local contexts first hand B) Website: The SUSTOUR-Med Website has been developed with all project materials are freely available for downloads C) A pool of 24 Good practices on tools that small hotels can use to facilitate their sustainable transition. Also a collection methodology with criteria for the selection has been developed. According to the evaluation from the workshop participants, the practices were deemed very useful and inspiring D) A Guide for tourism professionals (47 pages) on how to integrate sustainability-related measures in the operation of small hotels. The evaluation showed that the practical nature of the Guide was highly praised and appreciated by the workshop participants. This document has high transferability potential and can be used by VET trainers in the field of tourism E) 4 Workshops (2 in Greece and 2 in Italy) engaging 35 participants in total. The results of the workshops were highly positive as the vast majority showed increased interest, knowledge and motivation on integrating sustainability principles F) Promotional material and campaigns (2 newsletters, FB and LinkedIn) reaching out to more than 136,207 people
