Objectives

This project aimed to make EU young citizens reflect on their sensibilities, concerns and knowledge of European values, improving their personal life and civic engagement. The target groups of this initiative were young people who will become the leaders of tomorrow. Children are the future, and they will have the responsibility to continue protecting the world. We believe that it is our responsibility to make them aware of their problems, their inequalities, developing their skills towards critical thinking.

Activities

A.1 Methodology development: We delevoped a first version of the pedagogic methodology on how to use photography to create a debate on common European frameworks of key competences and contents, easily adapted within any given EU country's curricula. A.2 Methodology assessment: Evaluation and feedback of the methodology by a group of secondary school teachers. Translation into Spanish, Italian and Slovenian. A.3 Project meeting: Meeting in Valencia to take stock of all the work done so far, preparing and improving the methodology, review of the teacher's feedback, planning the remainder of the project and external communication B.1 Schools' participation: Take up of the methodology by teachers. They introduced the activities in their subjects. Students took photographs following the methodology. B.2 Software development: Production of a software solution that can easily handle any online exhibition. B.3 Online exhibition: Teachers submitted the photos made by their students. C.1 Communications: Internal communication within the consortium (emails, monthly video conferences), and external communication for dissemination of the project. C.2 Monitoring and evaluation: Monitoring throughout the entire project and overall evaluation

Impact

The main output of this project has been the methodology. It is a handbook for teachers to implement their own version of any activity directed towards students taking photographs and debating about them in class. This document is available in four versions (English, Italian, Slovenian and Spanish), and it will remain on the website for teachers' consultation. Another result has been a software solution. This is a WordPress template, available in English, Italian, Spanish and Slovenian, freely accessible and available for everyone, as open source software. This resource was used for the next result: the online exhibition. It was available for uploading photos from May to September, and it will remain online for at least 5 years, showing the photographs according to user choice (age, school or nationality). As a result of the communication of the project, several publications have disseminated the project, the methodology and the online exhibition through 6 specialized media, the websites of the project partners and their social media. Regarding participation in the online exhibition, 12 teachers from 12 schools from Slovenia (6), Italy (3) and Spain (3) have participated with 97 photographs.
