▶Objectives
To achieve our objectives, we initiated various activities in schools to familiarize both teachers and students with the importance of healthy nutrition and strategies for preventing and reducing food waste. In one activity, teachers and students collaborated with local partners to develop volunteer projects aimed at preventing food waste, collecting surplus food, and donating it to those in need.
▶Activities
The tangible outcomes of the project include: 1) "The Climate on Your Dish" toolkit, designed to assist teachers in creating and implementing educational activities focused on food education and waste prevention. 2) Guidelines for local volunteering projects, outlining how students can actively engage in food waste prevention, food collection, and donation efforts within their communities.
▶Impact
The project has yielded several positive results, including: • Enhanced knowledge and skills among teachers, enabling them to better educate and guide students on food education and waste prevention. • Improved understanding and skills among students regarding food education and waste prevention. • Enhanced student well-being. • Strengthened civic skills, as students actively contribute to and advocate for their local communities and sustainable development goals. • Increased awareness among national and EU stakeholders about the importance of healthy nutrition and food waste prevention.
