Protección del litoral onubense y sus recursos
▶Summary
The consortium applied for this project "Protection of the Huelva coastline and its resources" with a strong commitment to address the pressing environmental challenges facing coastal areas in Europe. We, the consortium, recognize the importance of preserving these coastal ecosystems for current and future generations. The primary motivation for our application lies in the need to promote and facilitate environmental education in coastal regions. We recognize the vital role that education plays in raising awareness among young people about the importance of coastal ecosystems, their inherent values and the threats they face. By focusing on education, we aim to shed light on the distinctiveness and vulnerability of the Huelva and European coastline, fostering a sense of responsibility and stewardship among the local community. The specific demographic focus on youth between the ages of 12 and 25 reflects our recognition of the critical role young people play in shaping the future. By targeting this age group, we aim to instill a sense of environmental awareness and responsibility from an early age, nurturing a generation that is actively engaged in the long-term protection of the coastline.
▶Objectives
In undertaking this project, our main objectives are to promote and facilitate environmental education in coastal areas and to raise awareness of the distinctive values and vulnerabilities of the coastline and seas. Firstly, we believe in the need to work closely with local authorities and communities, similar to our approach to water retention projects. We understand that effective implementation of sustainability measures requires active community participation and coordination with local governments. Our project also emphasizes the identification of positive and negative examples in coastal management. By educating young people, we aimed to cultivate a deep understanding of the interconnection between human actions and environmental well-being. Active community participation is essential to the sustainable management of natural resources. Our goal was to create a sense of collective responsibility and ownership of the coastal environment. Pollution was a critical threat to the coastal ecosystem. By actively addressing this problem, we aimed to improve the overall health of the environment and protect marine life.
