▶Objectives
Once these needs were detected, the three partner entities developed the project “REGARDLESS OF THEIR ORIGIN, ALL YOUTH REBUILD A MORE INCLUSIVE AND SUPPORTIVE POST-COVID-19 EUROPE” to generate and implement an innovative strategy where young migrants, together with locals, were protagonists in the reconstruction of normality after COVID-19, thus improving the quality of life of the entire neighborhood by making them more diverse, sustainable, and inclusive, managing to enhance the sense of belonging and social acceptance of these people with fewer opportunities and active European citizenship, bringing the European dimension closer to the local level. With this in mind, note that this project was also at all times consistent with all the objectives of the Erasmus+ Programme, especially those corresponding to the KA210 SMALL SCALE line in the field of youth, and progressed in line with the 2030 AGENDA: THE CHALLENGE OF THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS, as well as the EU Youth Strategy in line with the challenges “Connecting the EU with young people”, “Inclusive Societies”, “Space and Participation for All”, and “A Green and Sustainable Europe”.
▶Activities
To achieve these ambitious goals, during the 24 months of work we set up our European network and developed high quality work that has had a great impact on the transformation of our entities (opening them to work from an international perspective, generating synergies with other organizations and allowing us to access the opportunities of the Erasmus+ Programme), but also on our beneficiaries and the local communities where we work. The activities carried out to achieve our objectives were set out as an itinerary led by the young migrants with obstacles themselves in coordination with the local residents of the neighborhoods of the entities, to carry out diverse actions such as: the painting of community murals, the improvement of infrastructures and the sustainability of the neighborhoods, providing help in computer problems and in the digitalization of the elderly, workshops, etc. along with the necessary actions for coordination, training, selection of participants, creation of results and activities (both international and national with a European perspective), and evaluation and promotion of the project.
▶Impact
The development of the project led, among others, to the creation of what we call the “AWARENESS GUIDE: YOUNG MIGRANTS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE LOCAL COMMUNITY”, an appealing, 48-page long document that allows to reproduce the actions and working methods that we followed in the project so they can be implemented in other cities and by other organizations, achieving the same results of social inclusion and positive coexistence in local communities that we have achieved. Along with this result, we also developed the so-called “ACTIVITY DOSSIER”, which includes a summary of those we have carried out, and lastly multiple learning outcomes that young migrants have obtained. The project allowed us to have a significant impact on the communities where we work and on our youth, reducing their insecurity and improving their post-pandemic reality, as well as important structural results in the promoting entities that consolidate our international presence, enhancing our impact capabilities, improving our networking, opening it up to other areas, and accessing the Erasmus+ Programme and larger projects.
