Job Market Availability and Flexibility
▶Summary
We applied for this project because we recognized a critical need to equip young people with the skills necessary to adapt to rapidly changing job markets, influenced by technological advances and globalization. The project addresses the challenge of integrating young people into the labour market, helping them develop 21st-century skills such as adaptability, problem-solving, and self-employability. This initiative responds to the difficulties young individuals face in identifying career opportunities that align with their skills and the evolving requirements of modern workplaces. By fostering these skills, we aim to enhance young people's career prospects and support their personal growth in a competitive and uncertain economic landscape.
▶Objectives
The primary objective of our project was to develop and enhance the metacognitive abilities and 21st-century skills of young people across three EU NGOs. By promoting peer learning and international collaboration, we aimed to provide young participants with the tools and knowledge to adapt to the evolving demands of the global job market. The project focused on boosting critical skills such as creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and cross-cultural communication. We also sought to strengthen participants' understanding of their learning processes and enhance their ability to apply knowledge creatively to meet real-world challenges. Through these efforts, we aimed to improve employability and professional readiness among young people, empowering them to navigate and succeed in the Innovation Age.
▶Activities
In our project, we implemented 5 essential activities: TURNING CHALLENGES INTO OPPORTUNITIES: Hosted in Finland, this face-to-face activity involved sharing best practices in educational policies and cooperation with local enterprises. It featured workshops, economic presentations, and interactions with local companies to explore strategies in informal and non-formal education. VIRTUAL-DEVELOPING LEARNING SKILLS: Conducted virtually by Turkey, it focused on developing essential learning and soft skills through interactive lectures and peer learning. It included simulation job interviews and collaborative tasks aimed at enhancing communication and analytical abilities. DEVELOPING LITERACY SKILLS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE: A face-to-face activity in North Macedonia, centred on enhancing literacy skills through practical workshops and lectures on information, media, and technology literacy. VIRTUAL-DEVELOPING LEADERSHIP: Another virtual activity led by North Macedonia, focusing on developing life skills such as initiative, leadership, and flexibility through online workshops and collaborative projects. JOB SEEKING AND JOB APPLICATIONS: Conducted in Turkey, this meeting tested the skills and knowledge acquired in the previous meetings.
▶Impact
The project successfully yielded both tangible and intangible results. Intangible results included the development of skills and competences among young participants, enhanced cooperation among European NGOs, and improved cultural skills, fostering a sense of belonging to the European community. Tangible outputs of the project were: Presentations by each NGO detailing their activities and outcomes. Analysis of the educational approaches and policies in all partner countries. Three sets of educational materials created during international exchanges to facilitate ongoing learning and development. A comprehensive guide on employability and skills development for European youth, which serves as a valuable resource for future initiatives. Presentations of online tools designed to enhance job-seeking efforts. Detailed meeting reports documenting the discussions and decisions of the project. Promotional materials that helped in disseminating the project's purpose and results to a broader audience. These outputs directly supported the project's goal of enhancing the life, learning, and literacy skills of young Europeans, encouraging them to apply their new skills in practical job-seeking activities.
