Objectives

Objectives of our project: 1) Creating a network for training, discussions and brainstorming sessions with institutions from European countries like Croatia, Finland, Portugal and Turkey. It is important to understand each country's position about climate change, their government policies, local sustainability efforts and their educational materials on climate change action (if any). 2) Creating new, innovative tools on sustainability and climate action related teaching materials for Preschool levels. 3) Designing and building toolkits and policies to accompany curriculum to foster nature based activities and climate education. 4) Drawing up plans with teachers and relevant stakeholders of the schools on how to implement environmentally friendly practices in schools and the communities around them. 5) Getting experience on Erasmus Plus opportunities and building partnerships for future projects. 6) Knowing creative drama and game based activities as a tool for climate education.

Activities

The main activities of the project were; 3-day climate education and sustainability training course in Finland, 5-day creative drama and play-based learning training course in Turkey for adaptation to climate change, Elaboration of Climate Education toolkit for educators, Elaboration of Climate Education and sustainability in kindergartens Policy document through a 2 day project meeting in Portugal, an online dissemination activity and other local dissemination activities run by our partners. Impact

Policy Recommendations for Climate Education and a Climate Education Toolkit for Kindergarten Teachers was created as outcomes of the project which can be downloaded in 5 languages (English,Finnish, Portuguese, Turkish and Croatian) POLICY RECOMMENDATION 'Children Act on Climate Change' Policy for Kindergartens is a policy proposal for kindergartens. It is a strategic approach for making schools more nature friendly, productive and aware of climate change. . CLIMATE EDUCATION MANUAL FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS This toolkit introduces the concept of Climate Education, presents best practices in Europe, and offers a selection of 15 games and activities to engage children indoors and outdoors, as well as conclusions and references. It is addressed to teachers and parents who could use it as a guide to connect children to nature, which is essential for adaptation to a changing climate. The toolkit is dowloadable in 5 different languages. 2 online meetings, 3 video clips of the transnational activities are other outputs of the project.
