L2D- LEARN TO DISCERN :SELF DEFENSE AGAINST MISINFORMATION

In the digital era, youth workers needed robust digital media skills for quality youth work. Many lacked these skills, creating a gap our L2D project aimed to fill with a flexible learning program. The project enhanced youth workers' media literacy, enabling them to transmit these skills to the youth they worked with. They gained insights into the digital challenges and opportunities faced by young people and learned strategies to engage and empower them to use technology safely and smartly. We applied for this project to address the pressing need for improved media literacy among youth workers, enhancing youth work quality and equipping young individuals to navigate the digital world confidently. The project has concluded, making a significant contribution to media literacy in youth work.

OBJECTIVES : -We sought to educate and support youth workers and trainers in acquiring media literacy competences. This was achieved by developing innovative tools and learning resources using non-formal education methods. -We aimed to empower young people's capacity to use media literacy strategies for identifying fake news and making responsible choices about the world of news around them. -Our project aimed to inspire youth workers and youth organizations to integrate the strategic use of ICT tools and open-source software in youth education, training, and youth systems to combat disinformation and fake news. -We sought to enhance young people’s skills such as critical thinking, communication, and digital skills, with the use of innovative digital tools and resources. -We aimed to increase the quality of youth work in Europe by modernizing the teaching practices of youth workers through the use of innovative approaches that are in line with young people’s daily habits and needs.
