Summary

The field of digitalization in agriculture is growing quickly, but farmers frequently do not have enough understanding of its advantages and opportunities. In contrast to the increasing use of digital tools in crop production, fixed plantations like vineyards are lagging in technological advancements. Development centers and stakeholders are exploring new applications in grapevine farming, while winegrowers are hesitant to switch their traditional practices to digital systems. To create an effective digital service, it is important to understand the needs of stakeholders, and educate them on the advantages of using farm management systems, emphasizing sustainability, environmental protection, and economic benefits. Our alliance consisted of research centers, universities with expertise in adult education, stakeholders including innovative winegrowers, specializing in smart solutions. The project has resulted in the development of an educational portal that showcases smart systems, displays best practices, and organizes dissemination roadshows for winegrowers. A valuable result of digitizing grapevine production is the creation of dependable data sets that aid policymakers in forecasting potential impacts of climate.

Objectives

The project's goal was to establish a digital grapevine management platform by incorporating GIS geoinformatic framework with GNSS, remote sensing, microclimate, and precision farming databases, along with data from nearby sensors in test vineyards. The website includes educational material on the usage, economic advantages, and environmental impacts. The portal was developed in English, Italian, and Hungarian with a straightforward language and showcasing best practices to provide easily implementable knowledge for the target audience., and the project provided digital resources to growers for accessing current information on vineyard management practices, data analysis, and utilization in order to support decision-making processes. Educational resources focused on geoinformatic applications for field management were being developed to provide digital knowledge for farmers through self-learning opportunities and blended learning roadshows. Utilizing digital maps for vineyard management enabled producers to farm in a more cost-effective, sustainable, and climate-resistant manner by optimizing worker schedules, plant protection applications, nutrient delivery, and utilizing a map-based dataset to aid in decision-making.

Activities

The detailed activities regarding to each task are the follows: T1.1: We have evaluated the surveys and interviews for stakeholders to collect information about their knowledge, which was considered in the creation of education material. T1.2:We have created a comprehensive table of contents for the education material and created a template T1.3: We have created the 51 page material in English. T1.4: We have translated the material to Italian and Hungarian T1.5: We have created „grapeprodigi.eu” portal. T1.6: We have created a webGIS digital map and an access to a weather station tool, which can be found under MAP and WEATHER STATION respectively. Task1.7: We have made user tests, students test, professional proofreading and language proofreading of the portal. Task2.1: We have published the e-learning platform, launched the portal and disseminated this in local regional and national levels. Task2.2:We have created dissemination plan and roadshow agenda Task2.3:We achieved 26 560 reaches in our social media activity, published 33 online and 1 press released article. Task2.4: We had one personal and one online workshop under learn-from-practice to educate the target audience Task2.5: Roadshow (14 events)

Impact

The project result is a digital portal for grapevine management using a GIS-based framework, along with GNSS, remote sensing, microclimate, and precision farming databases. integrated with data from proximal sensors. Itoffers educational content on about agricultural digitalization from the perspective of grapevine cultivation. The website is developed in with a straightforward language, showcasing best methods to provide easily applicable information. The project provides digital resources to grapevine producers for accessing current information on vineyard management practices, Throughout the project, we have developed a lot of personal contacts with winemakers, during which we have discussed several future project ideas. The opinions and user activity collected during the project will also help decision-makers in their work by providing information on the sector's current attitude towards digitisation and the openness of producers..Through the user-friendly information gathering tool, funding can be provided a precision agriculture knowledge hub. The results of the project can be measured by numbers: - 801 portal visitors - 643 personal contacts - 26 560 social media reaches - 18 workshops, roadshow events and prof.days
