IRIS (Verso un futuro Indipendente, Responsabile, Inclusivo e Sostenibile)

IRIS was created in response to the needs emerged from tree of problems, in relation to the work difficulties that young Italians, suffering from disabilities related to mild autism spectrum disorders, encounter once they leave school. From what emerged with the scoping matrix, created with the help of observations from families and stakeholders on the subject, the need arose to provide alternative training paths aimed not only at job placement but also at an increase in self-esteem and autonomy from the family. Disability is one of the priorities on the EU agenda and COVID and it has made it imperative to address this issue, given the increase in inequalities also in the workplace. The EU Communication 'A Union of Equality: Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021-2030' of 3/3/2021 highlights that among the main objectives to address this issue there are: 'independent living, quality social and employment services, participation in lifelong learning', necessary elements for a dignified life of persons with disabilities.

The overall objective of the project was to increase training and employment opportunities for young people with mild autism spectrum disorders. The specific objectives, indicators and results, defined by the consortium defined through the needs analysis, the problem tree and the logical framework, were: - To create a training and professional path for young people between 18 and 28 years old in the field of social agriculture, a sector known for the benefits that are obtained on people with disabilities - To promote inclusion and equality in alternative work sectors - To increase the level of autonomy and self-esteem thanks to the to the benefits obtained from contact with nature-To achieve improvements on a relational and human level- To improve the level of English language and digital skills -To raise awareness and promote an inclusive and supportive culture on autism spectrum disorders at local and European level.
