Summary

The project was designed to be participatory in nature based on participants’ own start-up ideas and intended to give the individuals the competencies to develop in the social business ecosystem through practical guidance in structuring their own venture(s) & critical thinking for businesses and solutions. The principles and methods learned to establish social ventures are actually relevant through the integration of corporate sustainability to form the basis of a successful enterprise and contribute to risk reduction and resource efficiency. However, immigrants and ethnic minorities have limited participation during the prosperity of this sector, therefore a lack of access to credit and finances, as well as education, religion, gender and language barriers exacerbate the problem. As a result, strong social impact and community-based business and entrepreneurial opportunities remain largely unexplored, outlining their needs. The project intended to help unemployed adults with migrant backgrounds find an easier start in translating ideas into business and put the knowledge acquired through this project into practical use, as well as show possibilities to carry out their own business plans in their host countries.
