Summary

We wanted to start cooperation with foreign primary/secondary schools in Europe since we know that this experience can help us to broaden our horizons. Getting to know different cultures makes us more aware of the need to have respect for everybody. We also want our students to practice their foreign language skills, mostly English. Our students developed their interests during extracurricular activities, such as subject, artistic and sports circles. Our school encourages pupils to acknowledge the importance of leading healthier lifestyles, paying more attention to diet and nutrition, consequences upon the environment, taking up sports and connecting with nature. The topic of a healthy lifestyle and healthy eating is carried out through preventive programs: concerning healthy eating and counteracting childhood obesity, promoting a healthy diet among students by providing children with fruit, vegetables and dairy products, and educational activities carried out in schools. The menu for lunch is prepared in accordance with the principles of healthy eating for children. We participate in the Milk at School program, the aim of which is to give every student a chance to have a carton of fresh milk every day.

Objectives

We wanted to achieve different results, but mostly our aim was to improve various skills such as: better self-esteem, team work skills, English speaking skills, IT skills for our students, colleagues and us. The implementation of the project also offered an opportunity to get to know other cultures and their customs. It can help the students ( their parents) to achieve multicultural knowledge and build tolerance to others. The most important, however, was: - to find out more about health, healthy lifestyle, and food - to empower participants’ skills and knowledge so as to adopt a balanced healthy lifestyle - to foster quality and multidimensional improvements in participants’ lifestyle - to exchange good practices at international level - more understand the people-nature connection, explore the surrounding nature, explore and conclude on the impact of human activities on environment, the way nature affects our health - to communicate health-related information to participants, strengthen human relationships and establish effective team building spirit, friendly competitions that tackle project topics from various angles, supported through team cohesion and proactive lifestyle.

Impact

The participants had the oppurtinity to learn from each other, to transfer positive aspects identified in foreign educational systems to their own schools, to appreciate and respect European cultures. Students’ active involvement in interactive activities developed ability to sum up information, digital skills, critical thinking ability, stimulate creativity, healthy habits by applying knowledge into practice, strong sense of nature connectivity. The planned results have been achieved. Concrete results are visible, f.ex. in the cookbook and a board game that we made in Croatia LTTA. The positive result is the huge interest among students for the next Erasmus+ projects, and a fact that our students established strong relationships with other teenagers from the project. One student from Poland spent a month last summer as a guest in one of our student's house in Croatia. We see that our students who were involved in the project much easier volunteer for all kinds of research projects after this experience. Next result is the expansion of knowledge regarding a healthy lifestyle, eating habits. Both in Croatia, Turkey, students participated in culinary workshops. These recipes can be utilized and share.
