Objectives

The project was implemented to achieve the following objectives: •Promoting Inclusive EFL Learning for Children with Dyslexia (DYSCHI) - the project developed tools and methodologies tailored to the needs of dyslexic children aged 6–12, ensuring equitable access to quality EFL education, improving performance, and boosting confidence and engagement. •Modernizing and Digitizing EFL Teaching - by integrating emerging technologies, the project advanced the digital transformation of EFL education. Innovative tools, such as gamified content, supported transitions between classroom and remote learning, enhancing adaptability and resilience. •Enhancing Teachers’ Digital Competences - the project provided professional development for EFL teachers, equipping them with skills like coding in Scratch to create 2D educational games. This empowered teachers to design engaging materials and modernize their pedagogical approaches. •Fostering a Holistic Approach - the project promoted collaboration between parents and teachers to create an inclusive educational ecosystem, ensuring consistent support for dyslexic children inside and outside the classroom.

Activities

The consortium applied for this project to address the critical needs of students with dyslexia (DYSCHI) in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learning and to bridge professional development gaps among educators. Dyslexia, a neurobiological language impairment, affects 8-20% of the EU population, yet research and support remain limited. Dyslexic students face significant challenges in EFL learning due to the language's opaque orthography and inconsistencies between spelling and pronunciation. These difficulties, combined with inadequate teacher training and weak communication between parents, educators, and experts, often lead to learning struggles, anxiety, and disengagement. The project tackled these issues by equipping EFL teachers with a comprehensive professional development program to enhance their inclusive teaching methods and digital competences. This training provided teachers with the tools to create accessible, engaging EFL lessons tailored to the needs of dyslexic students. By integrating emerging technologies and gamified tools, the project fostered interactive learning environments that motivated students and improved outcomes.

Impact

- PR1: THE BLUEPRINT GUIDEBOOK contained desk research in each partner country, gathered surveys with 73 participants and conductedfocus groups with 57 participants; 1 comparative infographic and factsheet; Mapping Tool showcasing 49 good practices in EFL teaching for dyslexic children; 1 video presenting findings; LEXIS ToolBank; LEXIS Syllabus and Advisory Committee documents from each partner country.
