‘’Turning Digital’’ - building sustainable adult e-learning system working towards providing beneficiaries opportunity for skills development

Turning Digital project was created and realized with intention to create a tailor-made employment support system that will improve QUALITY and ACCESSIBILITY of adult education and consequently increase adult PARTICIPATION in it. All that was recognized in pre-project analysis as gaps that should be addressed, both on the level of participating countries as well as in Europe.Adult educators, as direct target group,were in search for new skills and frameworks which will allow them to reach and engage adult learners into their educational curriculum through e-learning systems, while maintaining quality of adult education activities. This need was addressed through multi-level capacity building process and development of platform for continuous education of adult educators to transform their curriculum into digital form, as well as to offer their e-learning educations toward adult population. Adult learners as final beneficiaries were in search of high-quality and easily accessible educations that will help them to find an employment. Hence, same platform was designed and shaped to enable adult learners to expand existing and adopt new knowledge by attending distance learning training in a simple, efficient, and economical way.

Turning digital project aimed to establish a sustainable adult e-learning system working towards providing beneficiaries the opportunity for skills development, improving educational accessibility activities and increasing participation in adult education. This aim was successfully reached through the project implementation that was designed around achievement of the following objectives: 1. to improve capacities of adult educators to embrace innovative digital methods for education accessible to all, 2. to improve employment opportunities for the adult population throughout the creation of a digital platform which enables the acquisition or improvement of professional competencies necessary for participation in the labour market, and 3. to increase awareness about the importance of e-learning methods as a tool for creating conditions for adult employability and higher competitiveness.

A1 – Curriculum development: Research among adult educators on their capacities for digital transformation of their curriculums was done. These results were used for the development of tailor-made online guide for adult educators to help them in the process of digital transformation of their work and based on what digitalization of 3 existing curriculums were done. A2 – Creating capacities: Training of trainers was done with 20 adult educators enhancing their skills for transferring adult education online and support other educators in doing so. Participants from the training engaged and trained another 60 adult educators to do digitalization of their curriculums. Aside of that, 3 digitalized curriculums were tested and improved based on the feedback of 101 adult learners. A3 – Web platform: Creation of e-learning platform with two sections - Educators Hub for skill building of adult educators for digital transformation of curriculums and their publication online, and Learners Hub for conducting easily accessible online educations by adult learners. A4 – Dissemination and multiplication: Advocacy meetings with adult educators and adult education providers, as well as awareness raising social media campaign toward adult learners.

Turning digital had following outputs and results: - Created a capacity gap research report with feedback from 62 adult educators on their knowledge and skills for digital transformation of educational curriculums. - Developed “Turning Digital e-learning guide” designed for enhancing capacities of adult educators to transfer their work online. - Digitalized 3 existing curriculums for adult education for – Hairdresser, CNC operator in metal industry and Kindergarten teacher. - Enhanced capacities of 20 adult educators to become trainers for digital transformation of adult education curriculums. - Engaged and trained another 60 adult educators for digitalization of their existing curriculums and providing them through the project web page. - 101 adult learners enhanced their knowledge and skills in the fields of interest through conducting 3 digitalized educational curriculums accessible over project web page. - Over 340.000 adult learners and adult educators reached through advocacy and awareness raising campaigns, increasing their awareness about importance of e-learning in adult education and inspiring them to use turningdigital.net web platform and project outputs hosted there for their personal and professional development.
