We Say That Stop Wasting
▶Summary
The "We say that stop wasting" project is an environmental awareness project that is sustainable and connects with the learning content and the Eco School project. He connected partners from Slovenia, Poland and Turkey and focused on one of the main priorities of Erasmus+ programs, global climate change and environmental protection. Nowadays, many people in many parts of the world are intentionally or unintentionally causing the waste of natural resources and raw materials. Intentionally or unknowingly, we generate huge amounts of waste in various areas, including in our schools, homes and other institutions. In our daily life, we encounter large amounts of wasted food, waste of water and energy resources, especially paper waste. We want to find the right balance between our needs and consumption in an overly consumerist society and to think about our daily habits. This does not necessarily mean that our lives will change significantly, but we can make life better and our institutions even more environmentally friendly with small steps and together. In the project, we remind you to stop polluting and take action for a stable, safe and sustainable future for young generations.
▶Objectives
With the project we wanted to change bad habits from everyday life, develop green skills in schools, and influence that students and schools will actively participate in eco friendly activities in the future. The common vision of partners is based on the necessity of sustainable development and follows the aims of the Green Deal. It involved young people and institutions with fewer opportunities and is an incentive to contribute sustainability and environmental protection. With active participation, they will be more clearly aware of problems and consequences and critically emphasize the importance of preserving resources. With the acquired knowledge, when using the green skills we have developed, they will work sustainably in the environment. Through collaborative work and digital tools, we researched and shared examples of how we can be more responsible towards ourselves and the environment. These will contribute to mitigating the impact of climate change and to a just, responsible society. Young people want to live in a better future, so the project supports their development, families, peers and institutions. With inclusive coexistence, cooperation with others and the environment, solving problems will be more effective.
▶Activities
After the reorganization, the project included three mobilities of Slovenia, Poland and Turkey. The participants are 12-16 years old and after pre-selection, they traveled on mobility to realize the aims of the project and meet their peers. Three five-day activities were carried out: in Poland from 16.1.2023 - 20.1.2023, in Slovenia from 27.3.-31.3.2023 and in Turkey from 29.5.-2.6.2023. Three work sections were discussed: food waste, water and energy, and waste management. We considered each set from a substantive, ecological and sustainable point of view and critically evaluated people's attitudes. Didactically interesting workshops, using experiential and interactive work methods and active participation in mixed groups as well as creative methods and techniques (singing, art products, role-playing games) enabled a motivated and authentic learning experience and the development of various competencies. Research, meetings and interviews with experts, field trips and awareness-raising events had the effect of raising the awareness of the participants and changing their habits. Using digital technology, we share solutions that contribute to mitigating climate change and solving environmental problems and the planet.
▶Impact
The results are a contribution to raising awareness of environmental protection and the fight against climate change. They are of high quality and were created in collaboration between project partners. They enable the schools and participants to develop green skills with the resulting e-book. Among the new activities are carbon footprint cards for observing behavior and CŠOD Mission for field work. With awareness-raising e-materials, we transferred achievements to the environment and to future generations. In this way, eco schools become even more eco friendly. We contributed to solving the problem of climate change and raised the environmental awareness of individuals. We presented the resulting story as a theater play at a public event. We planted a tree for the future, and spread the idea of environmental protection with the project's song and slogan. By recycling (photograph, painted mug, soap etc.) we contributed to less waste of paper, food and energy. Durable souvenirs are made from collected waste materials. E-materials (e books, e posters, calendar, etc.) have replaced paper products. We taught the participants how to shop and cook sustainably. The project supports the mobility in a sustainable way by using the results.
