▶Summary
The lever for our project is not only global trends in education and teaching and the question "What kind of planning or is the learning environment suitable for the 21st century?", as we started from our own needs of both institutions. Namely, with the help of a SWOT analysis, we found that teaching in nature is our weak area, but it is important at this time, as it encourages movement, which is not enough today due to the modern, sedentary lifestyle. V. Štemberger (2012) also notes that outdoor lessons improve the immune system and strengthen immunity. The form of the work also encourages observation, additional research and discovery of something new. Nature encourages students to reproduce and connect already acquired knowledge. Students see the point in learning in nature, as they realize that knowledge is not just about getting grades. However, if the appropriate use of ICT is added to this, we help students to be more motivated and engaged in learning. All this requires a sovereign and competent teacher. By implementing the activity, we wanted to strengthen the professional growth and competence of the professional profile of teachers. That they will cope with teaching in the 21st century.
▶Objectives
The nature of learning arouses strong interest nowadays, as does the creation of environments for successful learning. All this requires a sovereign and competent teacher. With the project, we wanted to train teachers to create or use such learning environments, so that they would be able to recognize a potential space from the natural environment where student-friendly lessons can take place, supported by the meaningful use of ICT.
▶Activities
We carried out joint training activities and thus checked the designed trainings for teachers, and above all Croatian and Slovenian teachers exchanged examples of good practices, as it was planned that each school would exchange 7 teachers and 6 students in two years. We planned and implemented student mobility from the point of view of implementing teaching in nature with applications and short-term joint events for staff training. As part of this, the participants attended classes, participated in school activities, planned and tested teacher training.
▶Impact
With us, all participants gained by participating in the project; children from kindergarten, students of different age groups from both primary schools, professional workers, parents, local community, random tourists and general professional public. In the proposed project, we have developed three modules of practical training (learning in nature) for our teachers, as support for those who adopt and develop basic skills and key competences. We designed, planned and successfully set up a learning path named Treasures of Pišece, which raised the quality of the goal set in the application form (design and set up a water learning trail). As part of this, we created presentation flyers, postcards, brochures, and a website. Other results include the introduction of annual project weeks in the school's LDN (annual work plan), which is based on the integration of national and international projects with an emphasis on teaching in nature. As part of the project's dissemination, a manual for teaching along the learning path Treasures of Pišece is being prepared, based on the successfully implemented lessons of the teachers in our institution.
