Budovanie kapacít pre vzdelávanie k trvalej udržateľnosti prostredníctvom rozvoja kultúry zdravého a udržateľného stravovania na školách
▶Summary
We decided to apply for this project because its main goal was the development of the transnational network of the Really Healthy School (SZŠ) programs and the improvement of the quality of work and procedures in the field of education towards sustainability. Our needs were to find effective ways to contribute to a sustainable future through education and school meals. The project offered us the opportunity to address common needs and priorities in the field of education and school meals by sharing examples of proven practice and creating new digital tools. Mapping the situation in both countries and subsequently proposing concrete measures to improve education policies appealed to us as an opportunity to actively participate in positive change. In addition, the examples of proven innovative sustainability education programs offered by the project were a valuable source of inspiration for our professional activities. The thematic focus on food and food as an universal theme that can support social inclusion and the creation of an inclusive environment in schools motivated us to participate and get involved in the project's activities.
▶Objectives
The goal of this project was to achieve an increase in the quality of work, procedures and capacity building of both partners through the development of a transnational network of the Really Healthy School (SZŠ) program. By addressing common priorities in education for sustainability, we wanted to enable schools, students and the school canteens to make a change leading to a sustainable future. With the project, we mapped the situation in both countries in the field of education for sustainability and implemented a comprehensive program developing the culture of eating. We are proud to have collected and offered to target groups examples of proven innovative interdisciplinary education programs in the field of competence development for sustainability and practical skills in catering. The members of the project created model school educational programs "Really Healthy School", which will serve as a model for other schools. With the theme of food, we fulfilled the expected educational outcomes from preschool education to the 2nd grade of primary schools and contributed to the social inclusion of all excluded groups. Our goal was also to provide educational tools for educators to create an inclusive environment in schools.
▶Activities
As part of the project, we implemented the following activities: We mapped the current situation in the field of education for sustainability and the system of sustainable school meals in both countries. We used desk research and questionnaire surveys among teachers and school canteen workers. We have created model School Education Programs that schools can use as part of their educational and educational strategies. We have collected examples of proven practice in the field of education on sustainable food production and consumption. The goal was to help educators in educating and motivating students to implement practical solutions to climate change and environmental protection in schools and their surroundings, so that they become active creators of change. We raised awareness of the project and its activities through websites, 3 press releases, 18 online webinars, social networks and 3 conferences. We held project meetings of representatives of partner organizations to exchange experiences and update the project plan. These activities helped us achieve the goals of the project and contribute to a sustainable future of education and school meals.

Surveys have shown schools' interest in food sustainability and the integration of the topic into lesson plans. Model school educational program: The model program was prepared for both countries and is available, on the websites, for active schools involved in the project, as well as for other interested parties. Examples of good practice: The activity was successfully completed and a report with examples of good practice from Slovakia and the Czech Republic was published in June 2023.
