Summary

Inclusive education in Slovakia is just beginning and thanks to the Inclusion Coalition, of which we are a core member, it is now enshrined in legislation and national projects. We clearly need to draw on developed countries with a high level of experience in this topic and in practice. Norway is one of the top 10 in the world in this respect. From other projects we already had a partner in Norway on this topic and so we did not hesitate to extend the cooperation by getting to know partner schools and counselling facilities in Norway to network for further cooperation and exchange. Projects in the topic of inclusive education with quality partners from the most developed countries in the world is essential for us as a bridge of inclusion in education in the Slovak Republic. The topics and activities fit very nicely into our portfolio of interest and also into the already established framework of cooperation between our two organizations from the past.

Objectives

To create a relational network of two organisations with schools and guidance centres, which is the basis of a support network for inclusive education and practice, and to pave the way for larger, also research-advocacy projects. Also to learn about other inclusive education systems in other countries in the context of a number of upcoming reforms in Slovakia from the POO and the Slovakia Programme. To improve and bring to Slovakia the preventive-educational method of holistic learning Grunnlaget as a prevention of segregation, early school leaving and further development of materials in English to the EU area.

Activities

We implemented two intensive networking weeks in Slovakia and Norway in order to get to know 2 CPPs + 2 schools + 2 of our NGOs. Together with our partner we prepared high quality materials - translation into Slovak - Grunnlaget mathematics and Grunnlaget methodology and in return translations of our pillars of inclusive school - 3 other bulletins (bullying, therapy groups, IVP) which are both topical and highly topical. We implemented the re-training of other trainers and staff of the Grunnlaget method, trained math teachers in the new math methodology - Grunnlaget, prepared videos, webinars and articles on the topic.

Impact

- We adapted and translated a 100-page mathematics methodology from NO to SK, printed and distributed it to trained participants - mathematics teachers and primary school teachers. - Translated 3 more of our bulletins into ANJ and together with others provided to partners in the dissemination of inclusive education, - conducted two 5-day visits to 2 advisory boards of 5 schools and 2 NGOs from both countries, networked, mutually trained and prepared for a possible future collaborative project. - prepared 3 videos on the project and activities - 5 supervision sessions in the Grunnlaget method, - 4 training sessions in the Grunnlaget method and its application to mathematics.
