โถObjectives
In carrying out the project, we wanted to achieve the goals that below emphasized. 1. Clarifying the best practices of a multi-country perspective to eliminate the identified deficiencies in the financial harmonization and integration studies for the target group. 2. Conducting semi-structured interviews to determine refugees' financial inclusion, and financial literacy knowledge, skills and competence levels in all partner countries. 3. Developing a roadmap for relevant institutions and organizations in order to increase financial inclusion, financial access, and financial literacy levels of the refugees
โถActivities
During the project, we implemented all work packages as we have stated in the project proposal. First, we have made a comprehensive research of previously identified needs and gaps in financial inclusion of the refugees. In the second workpackage, we have organized search conferences for refugees to discuss the financial inclusion, financial access and financial literacy in all countries. In the third workpackage, we conducted semi-structured interviews to determine refugees' financial inclusion, and financial literacy knowledge, skills and competence levels. We have visited the partner countries and been as an observer during the interview process. In the last workpackage, we have made dissemination and communication activities among partners, target group and policy makers. We organized conferences together researchers and finance professionals with refugee representatives and government administrative officials to ensure the exchange of information and the dissemination of not only best practices but also the issues and challenges that need to be addressed to promote financial literacy and inclusion.
โถImpact
The concrete outputs of the project; Search Conferences Report, Semi-structured interview reports and Financial Inclusion Guidebook. According to the search conference results, the level of national welfare, its relationship with the sustainable development goals (SDGs), and financial literacy level appear as the top most significant factors that affect the inclusion of refugees in Turkey (Syrians under temporary protection) into the financial system. Furthermore, digital transformation is the first factor that supports the development of financial inclusion. Semi-structured interview results indicate the local language problem as the most significant barrier for refugees for all countries. Financial inclusion guidebooks and reports have already addressed the necessary implications for regulators and policy-makers in all countries
