To a sustainable future with green steps
▶Summary
”To a Sustainable Future with Green Steps” project includes current and global issues such as climate change, global warming, carbon-ecological footprint, green energy and sustainability. Climate change is occurring in every region and globally,there's still time to act,but it must happen immediately.We're living in a time of environmental&social unsustainability.There will only be enough resources for all,forever,if everyone consumes only what they need in order to ensure their wellbeing.Building a more green future requires changes in the way we produce,consume and live.Everyone needs to play their part to foster the uptake of sustainable and healthy practices.Taking this responsibility in account,we decided to build this project. Although some topics such as green energy sources, fossil fuels and environmental pollution are mentioned in science classes , it is understood from previously conducted etwinning projects that most of our students have little knowledge at all about the importance of environmental concepts for our planet.Environmental problems have a global character and connect us all.We need collective work and leadership from all quarters so we're taking responsibility for future generations to find a solution.
▶Objectives
In this project our main goal is to create an awareness about the factors causing climate change and global warming for students and other target groups. One of our important steps is to show different ways of being a conscious customer in order to build a better future and to guide them to have sustainable life styles.Students and teachers will be able to observe and experience implementations and policies in European schools and share them in their schools thanks to partnerships established with these aims. Our students will take important steps towards internationalization by extending EU networks by doing activities with their peers from different cultures, different life styles.These objectives take part in our school Erasmus plan as well.Our project is also parallel with digitalization and global fight with environment and climate change priorities of EU 2021-2027 Erasmus+.With this project, which we’ve started in parallel with ratification of the Paris climate agreement, we will also have started the fight against the climate crisis. Besides, we'll have taken an important step towards “global integrated education system” which take part in Turkish Ministry of National Education 2023 objectives.
▶Activities
We planned to conduct studies as 4 countries to monitor milestones of Europe's environmental and sustainability policy in place, to see different applications and to participate in activities on this subject with their peers. 7 different activities, including 5 physical mobilities, 1 virtual mobility and also local mobilities,were carried out in this project with 4 partner countries.These are; - Carbon-Eco-footprint -Climate change/Global warming - Environmental problems of cities/Green Energy -How to sustain for difficult times -Grow,Nourish,Sustain Together -Climate Adaptation-virtual They include workshops,presentations,discussions,panels,seminars,visits to factory-municipality-educational association on related subjects,CLIL lectures,competitions,meetings,interviews and natural activities.
