Software Utility for Age Responsive Effects
▶Summary
Background "By 2030, 1 in 6 people in the world will be aged 60 years or over. At this time the share of the population aged 60 years and over will increase from 1 billion in 2020 to 1.4 billion. By 2050, the world’s population of people aged 60 years and older will double (2.1 billion). The number of persons aged 80 years or older is expected to triple between 2020 and 2050 to reach 426 million." Rate of the population over 60 yeas old is increasing not only in developed countries but today also in low and middle income countries. (WHO) The Decade builds on the WHO Global Strategy and Action Plan and the United Nations Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing and supports the realization of the United Nations Agenda 2030 on Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals. The Decade of Healthy Ageing (2021–2030) seeks to reduce health inequities and improve the lives of older people, their families and communities through collective action (WHO). Why we applied this project is to be among the communities for collective action in order to develop our communities by fostering the digital skills and competences of older people and incentivise the young people to develop a software in the way of digital entrepreneurship. The rationale behind the project is to make our societies age-friendly .The project aims to promote young people’s sense of initiative and youth entrepreneurship including social entrepreneurship by making need analysis in order to identify and evaluate of the needs of older persons and their families and develop a digital application with which both older persons and their families to meet their needs and make their life easier, happier or less isolated from the societies where they live in. The project aim to improve the life of older people as the disadvantageous group, their families and the society in which they are part of. Looking on the bright side of unexpected and abrupt COVID-19 pandemic which effected human health globally, it expedited digital information and communication technologies that is one of the the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We understand better that digital technologies gains favor more in time of crisis people of all ages almost in every societies. According to Johnson (2021), "..digital skills are more of a challenge of course for older persons (digital immigrants) than for the younger generations (digital natives). The pandemic has given emphasis to the crucial importance of having the necessary digital skills and competences in order to get through the time and do well. One of the good example of the difficulties which older persons experienced is to succeed in getting vaccine appointments for COVID-19.(Johnson, 2021). It is not without controversy that older persons are not easily and quickly to adapt to use technologies as digital natives. COVID-19 brought into view that older population cannot use technology actively and independently. Rationale behind the project is to make need analysis and develop a software (digital application) to meet their needs and to overcome possible difficulties and conflicts they have in their technology usage , thereby facilitating their adaptation to technology innovations. According to Johnson (2021), "more than ever, older persons must be able to use digital technologies effectively. Not only for their own health and welfare, but also to keep in touch with family members, keep up to date with the latest information and advice, and to generally help overcome the feeling of being isolated." Objectives The project aim to incentivize young people to be sensitive to needs and problems of older persons and in this The content of this page is published for information purposes only. In this sense, target group of the project will create a special platform for older people to ensure that they can achieve the communication bridges. Older people in societies need to be in the healthiest way during and after the pandemic. We offer an environment where they can meet with their friends and loved ones at a meeting and spend time like in the old days, through video conference, so we can keep them socially active. As a solution to age-related decrease in vision and reading difficulties, we offer a system for converting texts viewed with a camera into audio and voice guidance. We enrich our practice and make it fun with memory booster and fun games that have proven to be beneficial for Alzheimer's and dementia patients. We add the medicine reminder feature that reminds them of the medicines they need to take regularly in order to protect their health, and at the same time, we ensure that their loved ones are informed with notifications that they are taking their medicines. We are implementing the project so that they can benefit from location services independently and in a way that they can inform their families and loved ones with notifications thanks to live location, without the fear of getting lost when they spend their time outside. the project came up with the idea that older people should make use of the digital application as independently and active as possible. To register to the application, it is sufficient to enter only phone and name information. The application should have a very simple interface. The texts and buttons are large enough for the user so that it should be easily seen made use of while spending time in the application. Activities In order to achieve the intended results and outcomes, certain activities will take place during the project involves; Transnational real life and online transnational project meetings, Transnational real life and online courses will be held about ageism. Transnational real life and online courses will be held about digital transformation, ageism and age-friendly societies, Transnational real life and online courses will be held need analysis. Field works will be taken place in order to collect data by using both quantitative and qualitative research methods, Transnational Learning Teaching and Training Activities will be held. Intercultural approaches, methods and techniques will be used since it is a transnational project. A software (digital application) will be designed for older people in communities and their families. To this end; Transnational Learning Teaching and Training Activities will be held. Intercultural approaches, methods and techniques will be used since it is a transnational project. Target group of the project will be trained on advanced digital skills and software design. Project outputs will be shared and disseminated by
