Objectives

The main objective of Teach2Learn was to equip primary school teachers with innovative tools and methods to enhance reading comprehension among students in grade 2 to 4, particularly those from migrant, minority, and multilingual backgrounds. The project aimed to strengthen teachers' competencies by creating a methodological assessment tool and a structured training program with two levels of proficiency. A key outcome of the project was the development of the Story Box, which includes age-appropriate texts and exercises in fiction, science, and media literacy. This initiative was complemented by an interactive online platform that consolidates all resources into one accessible environment. These tools not only enhanced comprehension skills but also fostered creativity, critical thinking, and cross-curricular connections. The project promoted inclusive teaching, reduced educational disadvantages, and helped prevent early school leaving by ensuring equal opportunities for all learners. It also fostered cooperation among schools, universities, and education authorities, creating a sustainable network and supporting European priorities in innovation, peer exchange, and transferable practices.

Activities

The Teach2Learn project involved coordinated activities across six partner countries to identify teachers' training needs in reading comprehension through research and interviews. Based on these findings, the consortium created a methodological assessment tool and a structured training program. 81 teachers participated in an online pilot of the tool, providing feedback for revisions. Additionally, the Story Box was developed, containing 108 texts and 432 exercises in fiction, science, and media literacy, all translated into six languages and integrated into the online platform. The platform launched a pilot with 118 teachers and 269 students, confirming its usability. To boost engagement, partners hosted expert talks and created 36 videos highlighting effective practices for teachers and families. They used a blend of print and digital strategies for outreach: over 500 brochures and newsletters reached 2,000 readers, and the project's Instagram gained 349 followers. Visibility was further enhanced through school websites, authority channels, teacher networks, local events, and national presentations.
