โ–ถObjectives

The main goal of the project was to develop innovative fast reading comprehension methodologies that teachers could use to facilitate students' personal and academic achievement through the development of concentration, photographic memory, peripheral vision, limit eye regression during reading, eliminate articulation, develop imagination and support the simultaneous work of both hemispheres during reading. Specific objectives of the FaR&Com project were: - Improve students' basic reading comprehension skills and correct analysis of information - Stimulate the equal development of both brain hemispheres - Applying innovative and effective teaching methods in the formal education system - Improving the capacity and qualifications of teachers and trainers - Improving students' personal and academic achievement

โ–ถActivities

We applied for this project to address the needs that students face in today's rapidly changing world related to slow reading, poor comprehension of the text read, lack of attention and concentration, lack of reading strategies and skills for working with different types of text, narrow field of vision, regression, and more. All these needs, mainly due to acquired habits from the initial reading lessons, are reinforced by the distance learning modality during the Covid-19 pandemic and create a prerequisite for a higher rate of early school leaving (ESL). Reading comprehension skills underpin learning in all areas and subjects in school and beyond. The project aimed to provide clarity to educators about the reasons that lead to low student achievement and to offer effective solutions, new tools and ways to address them. The innovative methodologies and programmes developed target students aged 8-16 years as well as adults, as it is the reading speed that determines reading achievement, not the age of the learners. Along with the mobile app, they support the personal and academic development of students, teachers and all stakeholders.

โ–ถImpact

FaR&Com project was committed to the creation of practical tools related to the challenges in the field of reading and comprehension, and has also contributed to the work of teachers by equipping them with innovative teaching methods. The main outcomes of the project include : 1. Three Methodologies and three training programmes, based on the methodologies, to improve reading speed and comprehension, concentration and reduce eye articulation and regression. 2. Educational materials on five topics for students' independent work and application in classrooms by teachers. 3. Mobile application: provides speed reading exercises, available in 5 languages, suitable for classroom and extracurricular activities. 4. National and international trainings with the participation of more than 120 teachers who gained new skills and valuable knowledge in the field of reading comprehension. 5. Reports and evaluation of the activities, dissemination of the developed methodologies, website and social media, a final conference, Far&Com LTTA Teaser videos.
