ā¶Objectives
The project has fulfilled the initial scope of work and delivered tangible, impactful outcomes. Key project implementation achievements include: - Building a real-scale Greenhouse prototype (demonstrated in Nicosia, Cyprus) with scalable applications (demostrated in Heraklion, Greece). - Demostrating a small proof of concept to serve as an example for circular economy and climate resilience in a local scale. The prototype repurposes construction components such us old windows, turns waste into new construction materials, and ensures dismantling rather than demolishing so that the prototype can have a harmonious ecological end-cycle footprint. - Showcasing advanced technologies in smart agriculture, such as automation, IoT, and optimization techniques. - hosting the smart greenhouse construction process as an open educational activity, offering hands-on learning opportunities for all learners. These achievements remain in line with what has been referenced in the project description and initial objectives of the grant application as well as in great alignment with the programme policy priorities by addressing climate change, fostering forward-looking learning, and promoting active citizenship.
ā¶Activities
To achieve its objectives, the project implemented a series of well-structured activities: -Conducted a needs assessment to identify key training areas based on feedback from stakeholders, including farmers, researchers, and industry professionals. -Developed educational materials tailored to the needs of the target audience, covering topics such as smart farming techniques, environmental sustainability, and precision agriculture technologies. -Designed and constructed a fully functional SMART Greenhouse prototype to serve as a demonstration and training facility. This greenhouse integrates innovative technologies such as automated systems, IoT devices, and energy-efficient practices. -Delivered workshops, hands-on training sessions, and online courses to agro-entrepreneurs, students, and other interested individuals. -Engaged with stakeholders to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration, ensuring the scalability and sustainability of the project outcomes.
ā¶Impact
The project has delivered results, in the spectrum of education, sustainability, and transnational collaboration to include : ⢠Construction of 1 physical Greenhouse prototype ā that functions as a practical learning and demonstration facility ⢠Development of 2 digital demo gardens showcasing agro-technologies and sustainable farming practices, fostering environmental awareness ⢠Creation of comprehensive educational resources, including open-source technology kits, training materials, and an online course accessible via e-learning platform. ⢠25+ in Trainings in 4+ cities, equipping the learners with knowledge and skills to adopt innovative and sustainable agriculture solutions in practise. ⢠Establishment of online presence ( 1 website and social media), facilitating outreach campaigns and dissemination of the project works. ⢠Mapping a network of 100+ transnational organizations, fostering collaboration and scalability for future initiatives (formed sustainability partnerships and collaborations with 40+ of these organizations). ⢠Increased awareness of circular economy and environmental practices in agriculture across diverse communities in Cyprus and Greece and in the broader region.
