Objectives

The main objective of the DEED project was to develop and promote innovative educational tools that strengthen green competences among VET learners and educators. We aimed to create a flexible, modular training program based on microlearning methods, making sustainability education accessible, engaging, and adaptable to different VET contexts. In addition, the project sought to modernize teaching practices through the use of digital resources, introduce a microcertification scheme to motivate learners and recognize their achievements, and support VET teachers in integrating environmental topics into their curricula. Overall, DEED contributed to aligning VET education with European sustainability priorities, enhancing digital teaching capacities, and empowering students with skills essential for the green transition.

Activities

The DEED project implemented a comprehensive set of activities across four work packages. In WP1, we ensured project management, coordination, risk monitoring, and quality assurance. In WP2, we developed key outputs: a Green Competence Training Program with 209 microlessons in eight languages, a Virtual Library, a Teacher’s Guide, a Training Forum platform, and a microcertification system. WP3 focused on piloting and evaluating project outputs through structured testing and feedback analysis involving VET teachers and learners. WP4 involved continuous dissemination activities, including maintaining the project website, producing multilingual news-videos, organizing national multiplier events in each partner country, and hosting a final international conference. Digital collaboration tools and green practices were integrated throughout all activities to ensure sustainability and accessibility.

Impact

The DEED project delivered several high-quality outputs. We developed 209 microlessons on green competences, translated into eight languages, along with 209 corresponding lesson plans. A Virtual Library containing over 350 curated resources was created to support teachers. We established an open-access Training Forum website hosting all project materials and an innovative microcertification platform allowing learners to earn digital badges. A comprehensive Teacher’s Guide was produced to support the integration of sustainability into VET education. In addition, we organized seven national multiplier events and one international final conference, reaching educators, institutions, and stakeholders across Europe. All outputs are freely available under a Creative Commons license to ensure long-term use and adaptation.
