Summary

Demographic change is creating new challenges for the world of work, including ageing workforces, waves of retirement that cause the loss of knowledge retention in companies, succession planning, skilled labour shortage, digitalisation and the different needs of different generations. The equal access to the work and education has to be ensured for all people with the respect to their personality. Increasing employment of older adults requires European States to support their citizens to enjoy longer fulfilling careers. Ageing individuals face specific career development challenges such as growing health limitations, skills obsolescence, and changing personal priorities. At the same time, they have enormous value for organisations and the economy, due to their accumulated experience, skills and knowledge.
