Objectives

The project set out to rebuild trust and cooperation among young people from different cultural and social backgrounds. Its main goal was to strengthen youth participation and inclusion through practical, creative and research-based activities. Across the Czech Republic, Germany and North Macedonia, the partners worked to reconnect local and migrant youth, promote understanding and reduce prejudice. The project aimed to equip young people and organisations with tools that make integration tangible — not only through policies, but through shared community experience. By developing and testing a methodology for working with mixed youth groups, training youth workers and supporting small local initiatives, Community Re-Awaken fostered skills such as communication, teamwork and civic responsibility. Ultimately, it sought to create conditions in which diversity becomes a source of resilience rather than division.

Activities

During the three years of implementation, Community Re-Awaken combined research, training, and community practice across the Czech Republic, Germany, and North Macedonia. The project began with focus groups and field research exploring the needs of young migrants and organisations supporting them. These findings guided the development of a shared methodology for inclusive work with youth. The partners tested the tools during international activities — a study visit in Münster, a seminar in Brno, and a training course in Skopje — where participants exchanged approaches to empowerment, advocacy, and creative community work. Locally, each organisation organised workshops, intercultural dinners, and micro-initiatives connecting local and migrant youth. The e-booklet Tools and Techniques for Resilient and Inclusive Youth Communities summarised the tested methods and was made publicly available to practitioners and municipalities.

Impact

The project followed a clear sequence linking research, training and practice across four work packages. Within WP2, partners conducted comparative research on the needs and everyday realities of young migrants in the Czech Republic, Germany and North Macedonia. The findings, showing barriers in participation and social connection, formed the basis for WP4, which developed the e-booklet Tools and Techniques for Resilient and Inclusive Youth Communities. This publication transformed evidence into tested exercises, facilitation methods and policy guidance. Through WP3, the tools were refined in international capacity-building events — a study visit in Münster, seminar in Brno and training in Skopje — connecting youth workers and young participants from three countries. Finally, WP5 brought the results to life through local workshops, intercultural dinners and youth-led microprojects. Together, these stages created a tested methodology and a functioning network of inclusive youth communities.
