Objectives

The objective of the project 'On the Way to Solidarity Tourism' was to address the needs for digital transformation and sustainability in the tourism sector. We aimed to enhance the resilience of professionals by training them in the use of digital tools, while also raising awareness of the importance of digital skills. The project sought to facilitate the adoption of existing digital tools to make tourist destinations smarter and more sustainable and to encourage investment in these tools and in training. We also promoted sustainable practices to influence the behavior of tourism stakeholders, highlighting the economic and environmental benefits. Finally, we aimed to contribute to the transition towards a more resilient and sustainable tourism sector by raising awareness of environmental impacts and proposing adapted solutions

Activities

Throughout the project 'On the Way to Solidarity Tourism,' we implemented a series of activities focused on promoting digital and sustainable tourism practices. The main activities included: Research and collection of best practices in digital and sustainable tourism from local, regional, and national sources. These practices were compiled and made accessible in four languages on the project website. Workshops were held in France, Germany, and Spain, bringing together local tourism stakeholders to learn about and discuss sustainable and digital tourism tools. Development of a digital platform and resources, including a practice manual that provides tourism professionals with guidelines for implementing smart and sustainable tourism practices. Dissemination campaign, using social media and targeted promotion to share project results with tourism professionals, stakeholders, and the public. Project meetings and collaborations between partners to ensure smooth project management, exchange of insights, and planning for sustainability.

Impact

The project 'On the Way to Solidarity Tourism' achieved several concrete outputs. First, we developed a digital platform that provided access to best practices and tools in sustainable tourism, available in four languages. We organized three workshops in France, Germany, and Spain, where 45 participants (15 per country) received training on digital and sustainable tourism practices. A Practice Manual was created, offering detailed guidelines for tourism professionals to integrate sustainability and digital tools into their operations. Furthermore, a dissemination campaign reached stakeholders through social media, newsletters, and targeted promotions. Additionally, over 500 stakeholders were directly engaged in the project through our practice manual and digital tools. The project website will remain active for three years, ensuring long-term accessibility to the resources and maintaining the visibility of the project's results
