Proaktiv Industrielle Abwasserbehandlung - Verbesserung des Know-how und Berufsbildung

The battle against climate change and environmental damage is an urgent issue for Europe. The quality of water is a main pressure not only for the society but also for the environment due to economic activities, population growth and urbanisation. Despite EU efforts, water bodies remain under pressure from pollution sources, and Industry is a highly relevant stakeholder. The water sector is becoming increasingly digitalised, but the digitalisation of training offers new opportunities, allowing access in remote locations, thus optimising operations. While EU Strategies call on VET to provide more engineers and technicians, highlighting the key role of skills in the transition to a green economy, many countries, including Germany and Italy are struggling with the demographic realities. The ageing population, respectively the ageing workforce, massive school drop-outs, have impacted on the workforce growth, eventually affecting the composition and proportion of the workforce, causing a skill shortage. Under the given circumstances VET has to align to the current needs of the economy. In this context we realised the importance of bringing VET closer to the environment

WATECO planned to contribute at raising awareness about the environment, become proactive about water management, respectively the proper treatment of industrial waters, support VET to become more relevant to the current needs of the economy, all in the frame of digital transformation. Generally speaking, proper industrial water treatment requires a skilled workforce. In this respect, our objectives were to bring VET closer to the environment, combine German know-how in VET with Italian know-how in technology use and create some instruments, digital tools which could be integrated in VET courses, and which could be used by other VET providers in future
