Operationalisation of DigComp Framework for VET providers
▶Summary
The DigComp4VET project responded to the urgent need to modernise the European VET ecosystem by addressing digitalisation barriers, exacerbated by the COVID-19 crisis. Many VET professionals lacked digital skills, institutions struggled with structural constraints and there was insufficient alignment between training provision and labour market demands. DigComp4VET targeted these gaps by operationalising the EU frameworks DigCompEdu and DigCompOrg, providing tailored solutions for upskilling VET curricula and educators, and supporting institutional readiness. The initiative also sought to promote equity by enabling access to high-quality digital training resources across diverse educational contexts - formal, informal, and non-formal - while strengthening the overall resilience of the VET system in Europe for digitalisation.
▶Objectives
The project aimed to foster digital transformation within the European VET system through targeted upskilling of VET professionals and institutional capacity building. By embedding the DigCompEdu and DigCompOrg frameworks, the project sought to enhance digital competences, promote innovative pedagogical practices and modernise training delivery in both formal and non-formal VET settings. It aimed to create a flexible, future-ready VET ecosystem, bridging the gap between training provision and labour market needs. Further, the project intended to increase awareness of EU frameworks among both practitioners and policymakers, align educational offerings with emerging societal and economic demands and establish a replicable model to support digital innovation in VET across Europe.
