Objectives

The general objective of MECyS was to upskill non-IT staff in small companies and organisations who are increasingly affected by digitalisation and related cybersecurity and data protection issues. In this respect, the partners had to contribute their expertise in areas such as cybersecurity technology, data protection regulations as well as curriculum design, training delivery, tool development, and teacher training. MECyS also mainly aimed to overcome different barriers in training basic data protection and cybersecurity competences. It reflected the competence development necessary to safely adopt emerging user-friendly cybersecurity technologies. Another objective was to address the lack of internal clarity and responsibility regarding data protection strategies in small organisations, which increases vulnerability. Overall, MECyS developed training concepts, tools, and materials, and deliver vocational training through various formats to build sustainable cybersecurity awareness and competence.
