Summary

The project should develop learning content that contributes to five of the EU Sustainable Development Goals. Goal 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote vocational training opportunities in green occupations for people with disabilities Goal 10: Reduce social inequalities in education and employment and empower disadvantaged groups through green and digital skills Objective 11: Provision of inclusive, accessible and green public spaces and improvement of air quality Objective 13: Raising awareness and educating people about climate challenges and measures to adapt to climate change Goal 15: Preventing biodiversity loss through green All partner organizations in the project are active in the field of green professions and strive to prepare apprentices in green occupations for future challenges in a world characterized by increasing droughts and heat waves, species extinction, and a growing and aging population. The apprentices should develop an understanding of these future challenges and design their professions in such a way that they are prepared for the changes and offer solutions, while at the same time enabling equal opportunities and participation for all people.

Objectives

We want to supplement the learning content of green professions with content that prepares apprentices for three key societal challenges: 1. climate change 2. climate adaptation pressure 3. an increased need for inclusion. Three modules have been developed for this purpose. Module 1 is aimed at apprentices in the field of horticulture/landscaping and explores the possibilities for designing green spaces in public and private gardens in such a way that they can withstand the effects of climate change and contribute to the environmental sustainability of green spaces. It also designs such areas for everyone, taking into account accessibility for people with disabilities and the elderly. Module 2, aimed at apprentices in agriculture, similarly addresses the topics of dealing with the effects of climate change and opening up agriculture to people with disabilities. Module 3 for apprentices in mechatronics adds the dimension of inclusion in the technical field, which is nevertheless connected in many ways to green professions, especially in the development of measurement and automation ystems that have become even more important in the face of climate change and can help people with disabilities to work in green professions.
