▶Objectives
The project aimed to enhance digital skills and employability for nurses and midwives by aligning training with European Qualifications Framework (EQF) standards. It focused on developing structured learning content to equip healthcare professionals with essential telecare and remote healthcare skills. A key goal was to strengthen digital training competences for professionals and trainers, ensuring inclusive and high-quality education. The project promoted collaboration between national and international healthcare stakeholders to support scalable and adaptable training across different healthcare systems. An Open Source Learning Repository was created to help professionals transition to digital healthcare services. In some cases, such as in Germany, the training materials were integrated into existing healthcare training programs, demonstrating the project’s potential for scalability and broader adoption by healthcare institutions across Europe. The project also aimed to raise awareness of digital skills in healthcare, empowering nurses and caregivers to adapt to new social and technological challenges in digital health and telemetry.
▶Activities
The project was implemented through a series of activities designed to develop and enhance digital skills in telecare for nurses and caregivers. The first phase focused on research and needs analysis, identifying skill gaps and training requirements in digital healthcare. Based on this, learning materials and toolkits were developed to provide structured, practical training. A key part of the project was the creation of digital and virtual tools, including an Open Source Learning Platform to support remote learning. Pilot training sessions were conducted with healthcare professionals to test and refine the materials. In some cases, such as Germany, training content was integrated into existing healthcare vocational education programs. To ensure impact and sustainability, we engaged in stakeholder collaboration at local, national, and EU levels, facilitating knowledge exchange between healthcare institutions, policymakers, and training providers (Final Conference). The project also developed guidelines and recommendations for future telecare training integration.
▶Impact
The project produced concrete outputs aimed at improving digital telecare skills for nurses and caregivers. A comprehensive needs analysis identified real-world challenges in digital healthcare, guiding the creation of structured training materials focused on skills development for healthcare professionals. A user-friendly digital platform was developed, providing accessible training modules on key areas such as Communication Skills, Technology Knowledge, Patient Assessment, Acute Condition Management, and Chronic Condition Management. These modules ensured that healthcare professionals could evaluate patient conditions remotely, manage urgent cases, and apply digital tools in tele-nursing. The project also piloted training programs, with some materials integrated into existing healthcare education programs in Germany. Additionally, it fostered collaboration among institutions, policymakers, and trainers, ensuring long-term sustainability in digital healthcare education.
