▶Objectives
MegaStrat aimed to strengthen strategic foresight capacity in SMEs and their support ecosystems by developing a competence-based training programme aligned with labour market needs. The project equips professionals with methods and case studies to analyse megatrends, develop Long-Term Opportunity Forecasts (LTOFs) and translate them into actionable foresight strategies. A flexible, modular curriculum and online course were designed to support self-directed learning and formal training targeting VET, HEI and innovation hubs. The programme was made scalable and transferable across European countries and sectors. A key objective was to create cooperation between business and education by involving stakeholders directly in the co-design and piloting process through national workshops. Erasmus+ funding made it possible to promote digital readiness and resilience in the VET sector by offering multilingual, SCORM-compatible learning content and accompanying resources that could be easily integrated into existing infrastructures.
▶Activities
The project was implemented in four work packages. WP2 focused on identifying success factors for long-term foresight training through bibliometric and sentiment analysis, followed by national co-design workshops in DE, DK and ES. Stakeholders from education, industry and policy contributed to the development of the MegaStrat Curriculum and Syllabus. WP3 transformed this content into the MegaStrat Online Course, built through a user-centred, iterative approach and structured in four modules. The course includes interactive, modular content available in four languages and was piloted with 87 participants across three countries. WP4 addressed impact, exploitation and outreach. Tools such as the Training Handbook, Skills Recognition Booklet and Train-the-Trainer Guide were developed, along with a structured roadmap for implementation. National and international events shared results with over 1,200 stakeholders. Regular TPMs, feedback loops and peer reviews were coordinated through WP1 to ensure effective implementation and quality assurance across all work packages. The approach actively supported cooperation between education and enterprise while contributing to curriculum innovation and the digital transformation of VET.
▶Impact
MegaStrat delivered a comprehensive set of tangible and transferable results. Key outputs include the Success Factors Report (WPD2.1), the Curriculum and Syllabus (WPD2.2) and the MegaStrat Online Course (WPD3.2), available in EN, DE, DK and ES. The online course includes four modules and follows UDL principles; it is SCORM-compatible and freely accessible. Supporting materials include a Training Handbook, a Skills Recognition Booklet and a Train-the-Trainer Guide, compiled in the MegaStrat Guidelines Catalogue (WPD4.2). The Exploitation Strategy (WPD4.1) identified six Key Exploitable Results: LTOF Curriculum (KER1), SME Support Services (KER2), Train-the-Trainer Model (KER3), Business Hub Staff Training (KER4), Futures Card Game (KER5) and HEI Course Integration (KER6). Peer reviews and pilot feedback confirmed the materials’ relevance and usability. Feedback highlighted the accessibility, clarity and practical value of the materials. External stakeholders emphasised the course’s potential for wide application across both education and enterprise environments.
