▶Objectives
Our goal in implementing the BESIDE project was to train financial professionals in line with European Digital Policy objectives, enhancing the digitization and quality of financial services. We aimed to equip them with skills in blockchain and other digital technologies to support their digital transformation. Additionally, we created a pilot course for ongoing vocational training in VET centers, ensuring that financial operators and clients stay updated with technological advancements. This would ultimately improve financial services, align training with labor market needs, and strengthen collaboration between the financial and VET sectors. By making the course content accessible to VET training centers, we ensured it could also be continuously updated and utilized as digital technologies evolve. This approach allows the financial sector to remain resilient and adaptive, providing comprehensive and digitally enhanced services. Furthermore, the project fosters collaboration between VET institutions and the financial industry, ensuring that the training is relevant and directly applicable to real-world challenges.
▶Activities
To achieve the objectives of the BESIDE Project, we conducted several activities, which were identified and divided into 4 work packages (WP). - WP1 focused on project management activities, ensuring smooth coordination and execution throughout the entire implementation duration of the project. - WP2 involved defining the syllabus and creating the course material, which formed the foundation of the online educational programme. - WP3 was dedicated to creating the online platform, preparing the trainers, and implementing the training course itself. - Finally, WP4 addressed dissemination, communication, exploitation of results, and follow-up activities to ensure the impact and sustainability of the project outcomes.
▶Impact
The BESIDE project produced several key results. We created a syllabus (available in EN, DE, IT, NL, FR), defining the methodological learning structure of the pilot course, a MOOC course (available in 5 languages) on blockchain use cases in digital finance, an open guide for VET centres interested in implementing the course (available in 5 languages), and a collection of useful external resources for students seeking to deepen their understanding of this technology. These outcomes significantly enhanced participants' skills and competences in Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), equipping them to apply these technologies effectively in their professional roles. Furthermore, the comprehensive VET course and the new e-learning platform provide ongoing access to training materials, enabling continuous skill updates. This has led to improved and customized services for financial operators' customers. Additionally, we strengthened collaboration between the VET sector and chambers of commerce by jointly designing courses tailored to industry needs. The skills acquired by participants were well-aligned with labor market demands, ensuring they are fully prepared for the evolving challenges of the digital financial sector.
